And yet somehow Indianapolis manages to beat Denver due to a leverage penalty on a 60-yard FG attempt that missed. The flag brought the ball to a 45-yard attempt, and Indy made that one for the win.
At this point there are fewer than 4 minutes to go in this Atlanta/Minnesota game. And Bijan Robinson, RB for the Falcons, has 4 more yards than the entire Vikings offense.
Go, BIRDS!!! Very solid game leads KC to first time being 0-2 under the Mahomes era. (3 in a row counting the February slaughter.)
Let Russ cook! Holy crap did he go off. Still winless at 0-2 but the Giants show signs of life. Even better, it’s now a no-brainer to keep Wilson as the starter.
Not sure what the deal was with bringing Dart in on 2nd and 1 three different times, but I don’t like it. Stop doing that.
I see two paths for Daboll and Schoen to survive this year: either their final game is meaningful, or after falling out of it early they put Dart in and then start winning a bunch of games with him.
Joe Burrow out for 3 months for toe surgery.
I don’t know if McDaniel is going to make it to Week 4. He appears to have lost the team.
As we expected, it was a sloppy game by two not-very-good teams. But at least it was exciting!
For the Patriots, it was very good to see them get the ground game going. RB is supposed to be a strength, and it sure looked like it (finally) on Sunday. Also good to see Drake Maye NOT throw an INT or drop a fumble. And Kayshon Boutte continues to flash.
On the minus side, the defense - which was supposed to be the strength of this team - continues to give up big plays again and again. This unit, substantially overhauled, has definitely not gelled yet. Doesn’t help that the Defensive Coordinator keeps having to miss time. And it looks like the Pats picked the wrong kicker to keep
Pretty much got crushed this week in fantasy football with
Derrick Henry
Hunter Henry
And the worst - Denver defense
Heh. I started Hunter Henry over Brock Bowers because Bowers was listed as questionable, and now, of course, he will play tonight. Fortunately, I didn’t need the Tight End points to survive in the Dope guillotine league.
I just read in The Athletic that the Colts became the first team in the Super Bowl era to not punt in either of their first two games in a season.
More bad news for the Bears: CB Jaylon Johnson, one of their best players on defense, is out indefinitely with a groin injury suffered during yesterday’s thumping by the Lions.
Johnson had suffered a groin injury during off-season training (which he has said was a tear of the adductor muscle away from his pelvic bone ), which had caused him to miss all of training camp and the pre-season, as well as last week’s opening game against Minnesota; early reports are that this may have been a re-aggravation of that injury, and that he may need surgery.
Colts tight end Tyler Warren, drafted 14th overall this year, is currently leading the NFL in receiving yards.
He has 11 receptions for 155 yards through two games.
Last year, our leading receiver at TE, Kyler Granson, had 14 receptions for 182 yards for the entire season.
I assume you mean at the tight end position? Because WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba of the Seahawks has 227 yards in two games, and I knew off the top of my head that he had more than 155 yards just as a Seattle fan following Seahawks games.
Ah, okay, yes you must mean tight ends, here are stats at ESPN:
Yes, Warren is looking really impressive with the most so far. The second-best is Tucker Kraft of Green Bay at 140 followed immediately by Trey McBride of Arizona with 139.
Also, I didn’t realize that Jaxon Smith-Njigba has the second-most number of receiving yards in the entire NFL, second only to Malik Nabers of the Giants. (Though I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised; in Game 1, Sam Darnold barely threw the ball to anyone but JSN.)
This is a very clear shot across DJ Moore’s bow. Last season he was frustrated and quitting on plays while Caleb was still scrambling. 2 games in, we’re still seeing that behavior under the new regime. Seems like Ben Johnson is not having it.
There’s talk that the Bears could be shopping Moore around and fans are looking squarely at the Chiefs and their struggling passing game as a likely partner. Salaries would be a problem, no doubt, but its starting to look like a fait accompli that Moore is leaving sooner or later.
Oh, crumbs. That’s what I get for not checking myself. Yes, I guess the graphic I saw must have just been tight ends.
Regardless, still pretty impressive.
This season is off to a rough start.
And as I type this it looks like the Chargers may have lost Khalil Mack for an extended stretch.
As a Washington alum, is Odunze for real as a pro or did we just see his miracle game and he’ll be on 4 targets a game from here on out?
Burrow out for 3 months.
McCarthy out for 2-4 weeks.
Justin Fields is in concussion protocol.
Jayden Daniels has a knee injury and is doubtful for Week 3.
Brock Purdy missed Week 2 but may return for Week 3.
Rough indeed.
I think he’s legit. Some concerning drops, and he’s not the contested ball freak he was in college, but he has great instincts and runs really good routes.
I’m not sure he’ll earn that draft slot but I expect him to be the WR1 next year.
Even knowing the outcome I watched the 4th Q and OT of Giants at Cowboys. What a crazy finish. 41 combined points in the 4th, and then in the 10 minute OT the Cowboys had 3 possessions and the Giants 2. And the winning FG occurred at the very end of those 10 minutes.
And that Brandon Aubrey is something else! Of course, I say that as a 49er fan where we’ve dealt with Jake Moody, and then even replacement kicker Eddy Piñeiro missed a PAT on Sunday. Sheesh.
