NFL Week 3 Discussion

I’m not a fan either, but he’s a good QB and the Steelers are a much better team than the Bengals.

It wasn’t 31-6 yet when I posted that. :smack:

Pop quiz: who won the division last year?

Are they still playing last year?

Wow, Singletary’s a jackass.

How fucking useless are the 49ers?

No matter how much he may yell at his players, Singletary can’t make them magically faster through “motivation.”

He can get his receivers hurt on meaningless plays when the game’s all but over, though. That’s motivation for you.

I love how Bengals fans get all excited over division titles. To a Steeler fan, the division is a nice thing, but not a big deal. We want the Lombardi. I had Bengals fans try and throw the ‘we won the division’ in my face in 2005. I could only smile. Fact is, the Bengals have won the division twice in the last 20 years, have been one and done in the playoffs both years, and stunk the following year the first of those two, so I don’t put a lot of stock in last year’s division title as a predictor for this year’s success n

An excellent start to the Cardinals game. Cardinals can still win the NFC West.

I was all excited that I called the Giants-Titans game, and then found out I completely forgot to switch it in my Pick 'em pools.

Garrett Hartley, I hope you can get out of your lease in New Orleans.

Does it make me a bad person that I was hoping for a tie in the ALT-NO game?

By the way, does a tie game result in a win for the underdog ATS?

Well, I guess eating those words can be the cherry on my Sunday Bloody Sundae.

Not only do my Saints get the ball run down their throats at home, but I had the foresight to cut Lance Moore in favor of Devery Henderson on my fantasy team.

I just noticed my ipod corrected “Hillis” to “Billie”, for people wondering wtf I was talking about.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t.

Weird goddamned week. My picks were all pretty much wrong, and I’m taking it on the chin in Fantasy. Some random thoughts following the early games:

What the fuck is with the 49ers defense? They are supposed to be good and I’m lucky if they don’t score me negative points each week in fantasy. What a mess they seem to be.

Speaking of fantasy garbage, what happened to the Panthers running game? Williams isn’t worth a piss all year and Stewart is even worse. I know the Panthers offense on the whole stinks but you’d think they’d lean on the running game at least a little bit. Unfortunately they haven’t been on TV at all so I can only guess.

This Chiefs 3-0 start is a complete mystery to me. Matt Cassel has been awful and their running game has been okay yet they are not 3-0 and have been kicking asses on the scoreboard. Go figure. Apparently the defense is pretty damn good and their homefield advantage seems to be back but that doesn’t account for them whipping supposedly good teams every week.

The Texans really crapped the bed this week with an opportunity to put the league on notice but the bright lights of Dallas seemed to ruin it for them.

The Giants look like a team completely self-destructing. At this point I’d be shocked if they managed to win 6 games this season. I knew they would struggle some this year but I didn’t think they’d be this sloppy about it. The media is going to eat them alive and this group doesn’t appear to have the makeup to cope with that pressure. Eli is the new owner of the Manning face.

The Falcons just squeaked out a W in New Orleans. That was one of the few games I got right this week even though the Saints did everything they could to give the game away on a silver platter.

Shaun Hill really sucks, I forgot that detail. I expected the Lions to hang close with the Vikings and for the most part the Lions were game but they simply got nothing from their offense. Hill was rattled and really inaccurate. Pettigrew got the drops. Johnson went MIA mid-game and the Lions stubbornly kept running the ball when they were down two TDs and it hadn’t been successful all game. Both teams were really undisciplined.

What is with Peyton Hillis going for 144 yards against the Raven defense? I would never have guessed that. I’ve seen Peyton Hillis, he’s no stud.

I picked against the Steelers on the road today, I figured they had to lose eventually with the QB issues but they still found a way. Tampa tried to pretend to be a contender the first 2 weeks and I figured getting a 3rd string QB at home would be a recipe for success, but I guess not.

I’m really glad Chris Johnson got that second TD, he’s be a bit underwhelming this year and my fantasy team needs the help. Though the rest of my team looks to be letting him down. I love watching the Titans in mop-up mode, they usually get it done.

How in the hell did the Bills keep that game close? Ryan Fitzpatrick’s numbers aren’t glaring and he’s the only big change. I see Spiller finally did something for them to justify the hype, but I’m not sue they drafted him to be a kick returner.

We in Chicago really got screwed by the broadcasts today. The Vikings-Lions game was a complete dog and I spent most of the time listening to Guns Hochuli prattle on. Then I flipped over the Giants-Titans game which was equally sloppy and one-sided. Neither game featured much in the way of drama or exciting plays. Then again aside from the Saints-Falcons game none of them seemed particularly compelling.

I liked how they got a FG block on the Falcons OT fg try, but Payton had called a TO, giving ATL another chance. Heh.

I love when that douchebag move backfires.

The Panthers are a dysfunctional mess right now. You’re exactly right (and it’s quite obvious) that they have a strong running game, and an extremely poor/young QB group, but are not designing their offense around Williams and Stewart like they should. Missing Otah on the O-Line is certainly having an affect, but it’s the most indecisive offensive plan I can remember in a long time. Clausen, despite some turnovers, has shown me that he has promise. He’s fairly poised, and has a decent arm, and knows how to check down his options. The problem is he has very few options. Outside of Smith, the WR core is absolutely useless. The TEs are inconsistent. They should be doing a lot of screen passes, and options plays to take advantage of the few strengths they have, but instead they stick to a vanilla game plan. They aren’t terrible on defense, but they have too many 3-and-outs to compensate for during a game. Fox is a run-first coach and I can’t figure out why he’s not relying on the RBs more with a rookie QB.

He’s not very fast but the dude knocks his way through tacklers like no one in today’s NFL. Old school Larry Czonka/Kevin Mack type shit. He’s fun to watch.

Cue Cowher Watch in New York.
