NFL Week 4

I wonder if this is going to turn into another Tim Couch situation where the offense and the offensive line doesn’t particularly like the QB anymore so they just drop passes and let him get sacked until the fans run him out of town.

What a bunch of sissies.

Hey Chargers. There are 4 quarters to a game. The theory is that you’ll play hard in all 4 quarters, not just the last one. Oh, and everyone knows that LaDainian Tomlinson likes to run left. Why not try a 50/50 mix of left/right?

Chargers, #1 offense in the AFC, #15 (of 16) defense (points scored/against). Let’s guess where improvement is needed here guys. Oh, and Norv, (or any of your staff) feel free to call me during the game, I’m full of advice.

Tomlinson ran right for both of his touchdowns, including the 40-yarder.

I am shocked! The Rams managed to go three whole quarters before colapsing. Gues those personnel changes made allthe difference.

I just read in Monday Morning Quarterback (Peter King’s weekly SI article) that the Skins haven’t turned the ball over on offense one single time through 4 games.

I had to go through their game logs and check for myself.

That is absolutely amazing, especially considering how horrible Jason Campbell looked in Week 1, and that Santana Moss and Clinton Portis have both been known to develop Repetitive Fumbling Syndrome at times.

As a lifelong fan of the G-men, I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with the 'Skins this weekend. WAS vs. DAL is the only game out of the year that I root for Washington because Dallas can [insert Pit-worthy language here] and eat [more Pit-worthy language] from a horse’s [Ouch, that’s harsh].

Jason Campbell looked sharp. Before this week, it was looking like Todd Collins or even Colt Brennan were going to get their shot, but not after Sunday’s game. After the two minute warning with a new touchdown, it looked for a moment like Dallas might have gotten their squib for possession, but nope. Sorry, Tony Ohno.

I’m not sure if I’m the only Broncos fan playing the SDMB survivor pool, but I know that an awful lot of people took Denver this week. I was afraid they’d lose–like they almost always do at Arrowhead–and stayed away from it, though I took them to win and way too high in confidence otherwise. So we’re now down to 3 people left, as lots of people got knocked out this week by taking Denver, but still not as many as those who took New England this week. Who would have thought that taking the Jets, the Packers, the Seahawks, and the Bills would keep me alive through four weeks? Though I was sweating bullets for most of that Bills game.

I’ve never understood this “the Xs always lose at X Stadium” concept.

Whether or not they were winning there 12 years ago is completely irrelevant to whether they’ll win there next week; no more than a handful of the same players are still on the team. Sure, Shanahan is still there, but it’s not as though some magical property of the air in Missouri is responsible for him losing.

Well, the Packers have joined the .500 club, losing to the Bucs this Sunday. The great majority of the problems are due to poor play by the fat guys (O Line and D Line), but another big concern is injuries.

Al Harris - ProBowl cornerback is out with an injured spleen. Could be gone for another month or more.

Ryan Grant - starting RB who didn’t play in the preseason and has been hampered all year with a hamstring pull.

Atari Bigby - starting SS out with a hammy injury.

Korey Hall - starting FB out with a knee injury.

Scott Wells - starting C out with “trunk” injury and just starting to get back when he gets a pinched nerve

James Jones - #3 WR, out with a knee injury.

Josh Sitton - named starter, but more of a backup, G, out with a knee injury.

Charles Woodson - other starting CB is playing on a painful and broken toe.

And those leaving Sunday’s game with injuries we don’t know yet include:

AJ Hawk, starting WLB. Aaron Rouse, starting (originally a backup) S. Cullen Jenkins, starting DE/DT. Nick Collins, starting FS and defensive leader. Luckily, it appears Aaron Rodger’s shoulder injury isn’t going to cost him any games.

Some of these are dings that may keep them out a week or two, but having so many is taking a serious toll on the team, especially in the 4th quarter of Sunday’s games.

Hopefully the Pack will get healthy and play better, otherwise it could be a long season. At least until we get to feast on the Bears and Lions.

In an effort to keep my sanity, I opted to not play in any FF leagues or survivor leagues this year. I just get way too involved and angry, and then I’m put in a position of actively cheering for teams I hate. I’ve discovered that it doesn’t make a difference–I still get too involved and angry. The only logical explanation is that it’s the Broncos that do this to me every single week.

I miss Lynch. At least he made things happen on Defense. And I fucking hate the Chiefs. I was really beginning to have fun this season, too. I hope this doesn’t spell the beginning of the end–especially since the Broncos hardly ever win in MO.

I think the Broncos are too good for you to be thinking that way. It was a trap game for them. You can almost rack up a “W” for every home game for the rest of the year the way that offense has been playing.

Uhm…Ohio State? If we could play them and somehow got lucky?

I got nothing. My favorite team is in a mystifying tailspin that shouldn’t be happeneing. Too much talent on offense (supposedly) to be this bad.

I just don’t get it. My head is going to go all “Scanners” on me if I dwell on it too much.

I know you’re right. This whole last decade has trained me to be pessimistic and afraid. I’m worried about the D, but there’s a lot of talent on both sides—especially the offense.

HA!..HA!

Exactly how many times did you feast on the Bears last season? And, we’re a hell of a lot better this year on offense than we were then. Plus the whole Rodgers-Flynn-Brohm trifecta is a massive step back from the 2007 version of Favre. When was the last time you even beat our starters…hmm, 2003 it seems. Silly little Cheeseheads. Shame we have to wait until week 11 to smack you down again, and by then Rodgers will probably be on crutches.

Damn…the Packers/Bears rivalry lives again!
