NFL week 4

What’s this Tolbert bullshit? Is Mathews hurt again?

Very nice to see the Ravens come away from Pittsburgh with a win. I can almost hear the bitching, whining Steelers fans from over here on the West Coast.

Congratulations on beating a 4th string quarterback in the last minute.

No bitching, no whining, just facts.

One of those things is true!

I don’t think it helped.

I was thinking about starting a thread for fellow Buffalo fans - “The Road to First Draft Pick”.

They said on TV that the Browns were the first team to go 0-3 in games they led in the 4th quarter since the 1954 or 55 Packers.

So they’ve got that going for them.

And which one of those three would that be?

Go ahead, tell me where I’m wrong.

Well, it was a fact that they barely squeaked by and that he was the 4th string quarterback.

I guess if I’m nitpicking I’m not sure if you could consider him 4th string with all messing around with QBs.

It’s actually more sour grapes than whining I guess.

And who would know sour grapes better than you? I assume sour grapes smell like Shaun Rogers’ nutsack, do they not?

When i made my comment, i wasn’t actually expecting anyone to show up and provide an example. Many thanks.

ETA:

I guess it was the 4th string QB who was responsible for allowing the Ravens to score in the last minute?

What are you calling me out on? Rogers did fuck Roethlisberger up that year. Is it because he didn’t retire?

You are bad at this stuff.

Yeah, I haven’t really fully latched onto the Hillis bandwagon because I’m really pissed about what’s been done with Harrison, but he might be the most fun NFL RB to watch. He looks like he wants to break bones out there.

Of course I’m calling you out. Who won the Lombardi Trophy that year? Did it smell of Shaun Rogers? Only if he jerked off on it. Good fantasies have a way of doing that. And fantasies is all you have, Browns fan.

Really? I did not bitch. Not even a little bit. The truth hit home a little hard, apparently. See you in January, but not February, unfortunately for you.

You guys like to bring up retarded shit in response to specifics points I make.

“The Browns O-line is better than the Steelers, here are the stats”

“OH YEAH WELL WHO WON THE GAMES?” “Uh… well, I’m only making one specific claim about one unit and…” “YEAH WELL HAHA 6 SUPERBOWLS MAN” “um, ok” “CAN’T WAIT TILL I CAN BRING UP THIS POINT AGAIN FOR THE NEXT 3 YEARS, TOTALLY NOT NOTICING HOW I’M WRONG ABOUT IT!”

“Shaun Rogers is gonna put a hurt on Ben this year” “OH YEAH? WELL… UH… SUPERBOWL! SEE! YOU’RE WRONG!”

Edit: Exaggerated paraphrasing to make a point, not actual quotes, of course.

Jesus, boastful Steelers fans are annoying as fuck. Nobody wants to listen to that “one for the thumb” tirade…and I don’t believe that if any other team had accomplished what the Steelers have in terms of Super Bowl wins that the fans of the team would act like that. It seems that’s all Pittsburgh denizens have to validate their existence at times (HongKongPhooey excepted). Perhaps the remaining decrepit corpses of the 1972 Miami team (some rapping, some not)…

Good game Browns. If the rest of the fans of the NFL cannot see how close the Browns were to winning all of their first three games then you are deluding yourself into believing that the Browns are the worst team in the NFL…they aren’t, and not because they just beat my Bengals. They have some legit players.

Yeah, it was a pretty good game. No hatred here, you bastard stepchildren. Or whatever the hell you are.

Edit: I’d probably feel differently if I lived in Cinci though. Every Browns fan I know from Cinci hates them with a passion because of the way their fans suddenly pop out of the woodwork in the masses when their team manages to do good. I mean, that’s typical of all fanbases, but apparently it’s cranked up to 11 on the obnoxious and aggressiveness scale there.

But I don’t! So I can’t really work up any hatred for the Bengals.

Jacksonville beat the Colts on a 59 yd field goal as the clock ran out.

The fact that you specifically said you weren’t bitching and whining does not, in fact, eliminate the bitchy-whiny tone of your comments.

As for the truth hitting hard, it’s quite the opposite, i’m afraid. After the Ravens’ performances over the first three weeks of the season, i was already worried that this wasn’t going to be a very good season. Sometime in the last couple of weeks, i made a post to one of the NFL threads specifically noting that the Ravens were not looking as good as much of the pre-season hype had suggested.

They had an ugly win over the Jets, an ugly loss to the Bengals, and an OK-but-not-really-convincing win over Cleveland. The defense, especially against the rush, looked brittle in places, and Flacco has not been anywhere near as impressive or as improved as many people were expecting.

To be quite honest, i thought the Steelers would win today, Charlie Batch or no Charlie Batch. And even with Batch in there, the general tone and flavor of the game was really not that different from the last half-dozen regular season games between the two sided. It was heavy on defense, with not too many rushing yards available, and was won by a narrow margin.

If it makes you feel better to blame Charlie Batch for your loss–because that’s effectively what you’re doing–then go ahead. It wasn’t Charlies Batch who let the Ravens make that game-ending TD drive. And it’s not like the Ravens can be blamed for who youj put on the field; they can only play against the opposition they’re presented with.

Too late to edit:

I’d think, given that the Steelers are 3-1 without Roethlisberger, you’d be adopting more of a glass-half-full position right now. The fact that you’re not suggests the sort of whiny attitude that some Steelers fans carry around like a uniform.
