No thread yet? I don’t think that second TD should have counted . Donnell didn’t get both feet down.
Looks like Eli is getting the hang of the new offense…
Looks like Donnel got his right knee in that’s why the touchdown counted
Eli got 32 fantasy points and Cousins got 5 that’s it this game ruined my fantasy week (and the Seahawks AND Broncos have BYE weeks :()
Is it just me, or is CBS’s thing with Mike Carey not working? Whenever they bring him on he seems really nervous, like he’s just hoping the segment ends quickly (although this has gotten better since Week 1). The bigger problem, related to the above, is that all he does when they throw it to him is just give a prediction of what the replay result is going to be. Shit, there are two guys in the booth who can do that just fine. What he needs to do – what Mike Pereira does over on Fox – is to point out any relevant nuance in the rules that the viewer might not be aware of, and to explain exactly what the referee is going to be looking for.
I kinda feel bad Carey every time they bring him in, since it seems to me like he’s kinda fucking up, when as a ref he was always so likable and on top of things. Hopefully he gets used to being on air and is able to open up a little.
ETA: Off topic, but I thought that the referee got two of the three replays on contested catches wrong. Cruz in the end zone and a Washington player in the 1st half who scraped his foot in bounds and seemed to control the ball just fine. Both ought to have been completions.
Thursday night football sucks. I didn’t watch most of this game. They’re either blowouts, slop fests, or low scoring snooze fests.
They did a terrible job showing us the Washington player’s replay.
His left foot was clearly down based on what we saw on replay. Specifically, it was down on white paint, and after the ball hits his hands the super close-up slow-mo replay show a rain of white powder splash up from where his foot dragged. Neither announcer noticed this.
The reason it was incomplete is because he lost the ball when he went to the ground. Proper call, but an impressively awful job getting us a replay of it or even explaining it.
Washington should change their name to the Washington Redheaded Stepchildren.
It’s only his fourth week, so he probably just needs time. I had no idea he was retired until I saw him on the air last week.
Is it normal to have 6 teams on the first bye week? IIRC in previous years, the first few and last few bye weeks were only 4 teamers, with 2-3 6-team bye weeks right in the middle.
What a poorly officiated Packers/Bears game so far.
What is the deal with these Bears anachroforms? The design looks like, oh, 1938 or so – except for that shoe company logo on the sleeve.
Two 12 men on the field penalties for the Panthers so far. That’s unacceptable and totally on the coaching staff.
Soldier Field is in crappy shape again.
This game in London is terrible. The Raiders really are awful. Tannehill put up something like 15 straight completions at one point. This is not necessarily because he is good, the Raiders can’t get pressure, play soft coverage and seem to be happy to let people just take yardage at will. They’ve just botched a snap and had it run back 60 plus yards for a TD. Before Goodell gets fired and this experiment is consigned to the dustbin of history, it would be great to have a decent match up played here.
Actually, seems we’re getting Detroit/Atlanta later in the year, which holds some promise. Jacksonville/Dallas as well though…
Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers again. Whew.
And Jay Cutler is still Jay Cutler.
It hasn’t gotten better. They’ve screwed both teams with piss-poor calls, so it’s at least somewhat balanced, but it’s making it painful to watch.
How the fuck can you draw a defensive holding penalty on a goddamn FG?!?! WTF!
Pulling a blocker away so someone else could get through would merit a defensive holding penalty I think.
And now the Bears are charged with a timeout for challenging a play called an interception on the field, since changes of possession are automatically reviewed, even though the Bears would have won the challenge had they been able to make it. Strange.
