I think the Vikings will get dealt their first loss of the season.
Especially with the way the refs favor the Steelers*.
*That was a joke.

I’m not sure who the referees favor; I hear someone never gets held, but at the same time, some team always gets calls in their favor. Seems to me it’s pretty hard to say anything other than “the refs always blow it, except when they don’t!”
Pack at Cleveland this week. Roll over opponent. Then home next week to hopefully prove to Favre and the Vikes that it isn’t their year of destiny. Bad enough what he accomplished in Minnehaha; no WAY he comes back into Lambeau and does us in!!!
Denver’s on a bye, I believe I’m getting the Jets-Raiders game (there’s a stinker), the Vikings-Steelers, and the Falcons-Cowboys. So if it wasn’t for the Steelers, I probably wouldn’t watch any football this weekend, because the NFC East doesn’t interest me at all and even with the later start time I still think the Cardinals are gonna get slaughtered.
I think you’re right, but not because of the refs. It’s actually mostly because I’m a Steelers homer.
That notwithstanding, Pittsburgh has been on a good roll of late and the Vikings have pulled out a few tight games that they ought not have won. While Pittsburgh’s schedule hasn’t exactly been against the cream of the crop, either, three of the Vikings’ wins were against the Browns, Lions and Rams, none of which are particularly tough games (unless it’s against the Redskins).
Pittsburgh wins in a squeaker. 24-21.
I laffed.
I don’t know who will win or lose but I think we’ll see the Steelers barely make any attempt to run in this game. 10-15 carries is all I expect to see from Mendenhall. Roethlisberger is a scary match-up for the Vikings secondary; the run game poses no threat at all to the Williams wall. Three decent games against poor run defenses doesn’t mean they can do it against these guys. I think they know that too and won’t make much more than a token effort to run, probably off of draws. I’m not an Arians fan but he does design some nice draw plays to run in non-shotgun situations.
On the other side of the ball the Steelers match up as well against the Vikings as anyone and I think that will be the key to the game. If they can force a few turnovers they win; they cough it up, they lose.
I think Brett Favre is going to be in for a rude awakening against that Polamalu-led defense, because I don’t think AP is going to go off against Pitt’s stingy run defense.
Also, I think the Svengalis of Zinzinnati pick up where they left off, dust off the ruins of a bad loss to a good offense and pound Chicago. Cincy simply has too many talented players on offense for that side of the ball to remain so dormant for so long, killing itself with drops, penalties and the like. They put it all together Sunday, led by a vengeful Cedric Benson. The offense carries the defense (which is wounded) for the first game so far this season.
A shootout: Bengals 38 Bears 34
You can check what games are showing where here (and probably a few other places).
That’s where I was checking. But my section of upstate New York is sometimes hard to discern from MA.
Bad news for Minnesota, Winfield is unlikely to play. He’s looked pretty good despite their struggles in defending the pass.
One of the announcers on ESPN picked the Steelers 27-24. I was in a bar and they had the sound down, so I couldn’t hear much more than that.
Eagles / Redskins.
I project the final score of the game to be Philly 24, Washington -6. I don’t yet know how Washington will score negative 6 points, but I’m sure they will find a way.
Just like Oakland was projected to?
I don’t understand this year’s Eagles at all. McNabb comes back, has a monster game, they win handily…and then they lose to of all teams, the freaking RAIDERS, and they don’t even score a TD. Boggles the mind.
It’s hard to say whom is the second place team in the NFC East, Cowgirls or Eagles. Neither team has shown much consistency.
My pick has nothing to do with the Eagles, and *everything *to do with the Redskins. They are 1-5 against the spread and 1 game went Over (no thanks to the Redskins “offense”). The last 5 games have gone Under. They average 13 points per game and most of that is field goals. This is a team in complete disarray.
I think they’ll be awarded negative points after one of their offensive players gets confused and tackles their own quarterback in their own end zone… 3 times.
The Lions will not lose this week.
Are you predicting a Lions win??? Or are you willing to take a tie and run?
On Edit, I see the Lions aren’t playing. Now I understand the prediction.
The Titans also have a bye week, but I figure they’ll find a way to lose anyway.
Discouraging news about the Vikings secondary. They looked truly horrible last week. It could be a long afternoon.
Tommy Lincoln, a bed ridden terminal leukemia patient at the local hospital, threw for 378 yards and 4 touchdowns with 0 interceptions against the Titans when they came to visit the children’s ICU during their bye week this weekend.
Just realized that there’s a redundant thread here. In case any of you missed it I posted my Weekly Predictions in a new thread, in case anyone subscribed to this thread expecting them here.
JUST realized it… ? So you aren’t really omniscient?
