I’m not sure there’s ever been a team that consistently can’t show up on both O and D at the same time as the Browns. You’ll have an amazing defensive performance for the ages with an offense that can’t pass for 100 yards. Then the next game you’ll have the offense pass for 450 yards out of nowhere and the defense can’t even slow the other team down. Neither unit is consistently bad, they are just never good at the same time. Ever.
Bizarre story this week with Ryan Mallett missing the team flight to Miami. However, Houston is getting blown out in Miami. I wonder if Mallett will get a chance to relieve Hoyer even with the missed flight? Houston has no other quarterbacks.
This is a weird week already. Jets are beating NE, TB over WAS, and what the hell is wrong with Andrew Luck? Seriously. He looks absolutely out of confidence lately, today he only throws INTs.
It’s looking like the Bills will be missing the playoffs again. I don’t see them recovering from a 3-4 record in the AFC East.
My Phillip Rivers voodoo doll is working really well. ( I have him blindfolded.)
The Chargers are down 37 to 6 against Oakland. This makes me really happy even though I hate Oakland. The chargers will be 2 and 5 after today if this continues. Pretty hard to get the fans excited about them staying when they suck this bad. Oh, and they filed papers with the NFL this week to move to LA.
Go Chargers, Go (to LA)!!!
Well shut my mouth. Fell asleep and the shitty Redskins turn incredible and come back.
Agreed on all counts. This is awesome.
And just because the Texans’s day wasn’t bad enough, Arian Foster tears his Achilles, and is out for the year. Maybe for the rest of his career, too.
Let’s go Rockets!
Things are kinda grim for the AFC South: Teams have a combined record of 8-19; they have scored 152 fewer points than their opponents (last-place Titans are best in this category, at -20). Colts hold first place with a 3-4 record.
As someone who lives in Virginia and hasn’t been able to regularly watch my Colts (I deliberately avoided the Patriots game, expecting a bloodbath), can someone explain to me please just what the hell is wrong with them this year?
From what I’ve read, a good deal of it is because Andrew Luck is getting slaughtered, which is the result of several drafts worth of getting him receivers he can’t hit because he’s getting slaughtered instead of an OL that can keep him from getting slaughtered.
So what’s the deal with the Dolphins? Were they held back by coaching and now everyone is in the honeymoon of the switch?
Yay. Eagles suck again. Let the injured Jason Peters throw the poor excuse for a ball over Sanchez and the other guy. Yadda Yadda. Chip is dumber than burnt toast in a crock pot.
Cam Newton throw three freebies to the Eagles’ D and they still cannot seem to catch up. Yeah, that sounds like teh suck.
Andrew Luck is like a different guy. And I know his offensive line sucks, but he looks at times like a dear in headlights.
The Browns, eh, what can you even say? Turnovers, no run game and a totally inconsistent defense.
That’s funny, I didn’t know the Lions’ front office also ran Indy.
I watched Stafford get beaten to a pulp yesterday. It wasn’t pretty.
The Cat’s defense was fairly stout, though. Especially at the end.
Jared Allen was invisible until the Iggles are in the shadow of their own goalposts and time tick-tick-ticking, and then gets two sacks in four plays. (I’m counting the ankle-takedown that caused the fumble that Philadelphia recovered, even if the scorers don’t.)
Panthers’ rushing offense was pretty off-the-hook, too. And it warmed my Big-Eight heart to see them shift into an I-formation for some moderately effective Jonathon Stewart runs. I-Form. Wow. Oldsk00l!
I don’t know if it’s a quality win, but it’s a W. 6-0. Milestone for that organization.
It’s hard to say, they have the same offensive coordinator as before the Philbin firing, right? I guess Campbell can be calling for a different direction in play calling (mostly “More Lamar!”) but that seems like it can’t be enough. Maybe Philbin was forcing some really bad ideas on the OC.
Cameron Wake is back on D, that helps. But it’s also worth noting that the Titans have turned out to be awful despite their first game looking so good, and the Texans are also hideous. Let’s see how they perform against a real team.
That shaped up into a pretty great weekend:

[li]Pats come back against the hated Jets to take a commanding and probably insurmountable division lead.[/li][li]Rex “Most Overrated Coach in the NFL” Ryan’s Bills lose to the Jags.[/li][li]Steelers get rolled over by the Jamaal Charles-less Chiefs. Who’s Charcandrick West?[/li][/ul]
Pretty satisfying all around.
I’m pretty sure they made the decision that going forward in order to be considered as a host for a future Super Bowl you have to play a home game in London, which is why the Chiefs are there next week. So while we’ll probably never see the Pats or Steelers, we’ll definitely see the Cowboys eventually.
