NFL Week 8

Carson Wentz is done for the season. His shoulder injury requires surgery.

I mean, yeah, it was blatant.

I was torn. I loathe Rodgers but I was still rooting for the Packers to lose, just because they are a rival NFC team to Seattle. And it was such an obvious encroachment I could see in real time, and I was just as confused as Rodgers at the lack of a flag. That’s legitimate, “are you idiots blind” territory.

But seeing Rodgers in distress, I could not help but enjoy that.

It’s actually happened at least once a year for the past 11 years, so not particularly rare. There’s only a very short window where the NBA and MLB overlap, but given the NFL now plays 3 days/week, and once the NBA and NHL are both in season there’s generally a few games every single day, it seems unlikely it won’t happen every year going forward - you need the World Series and NFL to have no overlap.

A bit off topic:

As a Seahawk fan, I always want to the Steelers to lose.

Oh no!

Anyway…

I could see “hating” the Rams or Niners, but why Steelers?

They’ve been too good for too long. They beat Seattle in the Super Bowl. (And they beat my Baltimore Colts back in the day – 1975 and 1976 AFC Divisional playoffs. Yes, I can hold a grudge). The Pirates beat my Orioles in 1979 WS too. So, maybe it’s a Pittsburg thing

As a fellow Seattle fan it’s this:

I also hate those towels.

I forgot the uniforms too. My mom thought they weren’t wearing any pants.

and without a really good QB (they hate QBs  )

I’ve hated the Steelers since they stuck with the rapist at QB and pretended it was all fine. I still haven’t gotten past that.

In the southeast section of PA, there’s a decent proliferation of Steelers fans, and they are absolutely fucking insufferable. With airtight logic, I assume they are so nationwide. Ipso facto, everyone hates them.

Jordan Love had one of the best games statistically in league history last night.

Green Bay has been blessed at quarterback for a generation. Who was before Don Mjacowski? He had a pro bowl year in 1989, and from him you go to Farve then Rodgers then Love. Amazing.

what grinds me is that SA Smith claims to be “all NY” but roots for Steelers. Hypocrite, he’s bandwagon fan

Here in my Kansas small town, I know three Steeler fans. (I’m sure there are more, but I don’t know them.)

They also are absolutely fucking insufferable.

I don’t know any Steeler fans.

I do know a number of Packer fans, and they’re actually very nice. Even when talking about football stuff. They tend to support the team but aren’t asses about.

Small sample, but still.

Did you mean the Browns?

Nope.

I didn’t know that.

Probably their best quarterback after Bart Starr’s era, but before Majkowski (and then Favre) was Lynn Dickey, who had a couple of pretty good seasons, but also missed a lot of time with injuries. Otherwise, the position was a wasteland for the team for 20 years.
