Former Jets center Nick Mangold, who was a 7-time Pro Bowler and a 2-time All Pro, died on this past Saturday at age 41, due to complications from kidney disease.
Two weeks ago, he had announced publicly that he had a genetic kidney disorder (with which he had originally been diagnosed in 2006, his rookie season); he had reached the point that he was on dialysis, and was publicly seeking a possible kidney donor, as no one in his family was a match.
The 20 consecutive passes is the great filter on that stat. Removing that – because consecutive completions is not an actual stat in the NFL – and it wasn’t even Jordan Love’s best game, much less best in league history. (It was his second best complete game.)
Many quarterbacks have finished a game with a perfect passer rating. Those are better statistical games.
Yeah, I hate when they add almost irrelevant shit to make stats sound more interesting. “This is the highest scoring game by a player on the first Tuesday after Easter!”
Not that 20 completions is irrelevant, it’s obviously a point in his favor, but it’s not like someone who went 19/20 was having a much worse game, but they get disqualified.
That is a great response.
