You know one thing I hated about last year’s football season. I quit watching games as a fan and started watching as a fantasy football junkie. It takes a shitload of fun out of the games. This game is an intense game that’s high energy, exciting, and could still go either way. Enjoy it.
Nah. I fucking despise both these teams and wish they both could lose. Focusing on Fantasy is the only way I’m going to enjoy anything about this game.
What the fuck good was a FG supposed to do?
ETA: TMQ is writing “game over” in his notebook. And McCarthy fucking sucks.
Forgot I have Longwell going too. A FG here would be a huge help!
ETA: And the Pack screw that up too! At least it wasn’t Harvin.
Make it a two point game, so a field goal wins it. I had no problem with that call, only the poor defense that needs stop here.
Brett gets his 4th TD. 38-26 Vikings.
Al Harris got away with a blatant face mask on that play.
Now THAT’S the Dio I know and …
Why the hell didn’t they just kick the FG!
With five minutes to play, I have to disagree. They would have had to kick off to Harvin, then stop Favre, Peterson, et al with enough time to do anything, then drive back into FG range and hit another one. I respectfully submit that the Packers had a better chance of completing an 8-yard pass. Kicking is the gutless call of a coach who wants to avoid a controversial decision and potential blame for the loss.
That all assumes that they make the kick, of course, which is no gimme from 51 yards at Lambeau. Probably a 50% chance or so. As we saw.
I lost by .06. If Driver had taken that lateral and gained a yard, I would’ve won. My 2009 fantasy football season has been an absolute disaster.
I had no problem with the call. If you go for it, you need a defensive stop. If you kick the field goal, you need a defensive stop. Either way, you’re going to have to stop the Viking’s offense. The ONLY way it works out is if you get the first down AND are able to run out the clock (5:00 minutes worth) and score a touchdown. I think it was the smart call.
I survived this game with a 10 point lead going into MNF with my opponent having Shockey left to play in a PPR format. I’m not feeling great about my odds, but I suppose Shockey could get hurt or shut down.
Nah, it’s the smart call when it’s a high percentage FG. That one was far too long a kick to make that choice. Had it been a 40 yarder I’d have supported it fully.
Grrr fuck baseball. The NFL shouldn’t given them any courtesy. Crush their silly game.
Sometimes I hate fantasy football. I should be thrilled that the Panthers whupped the Cardinals and got 6 (!) turnovers from Kurt Warner. But Warner’s my FF QB (and I was playing Boldin too, who left early with an injury) and it caused me much couch confusion.
Big win for the Panthers though, who finally got back to their strength, letting Williams and Stewart carry them. Jake didn’t do much, but it was what he didn’t do that counted most: turn the ball over.
I enjoyed the game, but even more, I’m glad that the hype is over. Hopefully over. Even in the last 2 minutes the announcer was still discussing whether Brett woulda/shoulda/coulda been back in 07. It’s in the past, get over it.
I’m getting awfully sick of seeing the Colts try the quick-sub without letting the defense change their guys out. They get warned for it every week - the NFL ought to just start flagging them the first time.
Think that’s bad? I had DeAngelo and my opponent had Stewart. Stupid touchdown vulturing backup sonofabitch!
I didn’t see the whole game so maybe I missed something. But, was there any reason the Giants were calling timeouts with the Eagles up by 23 in the Eagles final drive? Followed by throwing on their final three possessions. It seems like they were unnecessarily risking injury.
Looking at the box score I see the Eagles called a time out before a punt earlier in the 4th quarter. That seems kind of dumb, unless they were doing it to avoid a penalty or something along those lines. Would that be enough reason for the Giants to extend the game like that? I’d think that if they were pissed off they would save it up as bill board fodder to rile them up for the next game.
How do Sunday Night Football ratings compare to the world series, by the way? I’m wondering if the series would crush SNF ratings so pulling the game is a defensive measure, or if they’re worried they’d embarass MLB by having some crappy lineup still beat out the world series.
