NFL Week 9

Um, 1-3 in your last four games? Coinciding neatly with the loss of your starting QB? Against the Lions, Saints, Giants and Redskins you have ONE win. NONE of which against have a top defense. You were touting your run game again? Can you not admit that without Cutler that your chances of stealing this division from either the Lions or Packers is pretty much nil? Having a great running game is great…except when you don’t win games.

Agree with the call to go for it. We’ll see if it pans out.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Cutler has been out 1 game.

In any case, my statement was that the Bears don’t have a shitty offensive line. The stats back that up. Are you drunk?

Come on Bears, don’t get conservative. We want a TD here, too much time to run every snap.

ETA: Hell of a run Forte!

That was a ballsy call so far in their own territory. Even ballsier considering it was a running play that started 5 yards in the backfield. Forte deserves five or six game balls.

I don’t know why it wasn’t a QB sneak there, that’s the highest percentage play, but Forte made a heck of a run. Risky call.

ETA: Seems like the Bears found something they like on the left side.

I think there are good reasons Nate Palmer and Andy Mulumba are undrafted free agents

Where’d they draft Datone Jones again?

Yay. The Bears will be 5-3 and be tied with the other teams in the NFCN. Do you really think that will hold up?

Aaron Rodgers should be back within a game, unlike Cutler, and the Lions are a serious threat as barbarians against the gate. Not sure why you’d feel good about beating the Pack here, other than just beating them. The Bears will NOT stay in contention with McCown. Not sure why you’d believe otherwise.

McClellin makes the play on Rodgers and then ends it with a sack. He still sucks as a every down player, but at least for one day the pick looks okay.

I’d say quit while you’re ahead, but…

Damn! The curse of the cheesy mustache claims another victim.

Who else is on the list?

First round. Same found they drafted Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews, Brian Bulaga, and Derrick Sherrod. Not all of the Packers first round picks can be injured, but hey, at least they’re giving the Bears a fighting chance.

Yes, that was sweet seeing him getting 3 sacks this game. Peppers and Wootton also had sacks and the defense looks like they actually found their pass rush.

Forte looked great too and had 125 yards rushing plus 54 yards receiving. I love seeing him score on goal line plunges especially since people have been critical of him on short yardage. Turns out it’s as much the line as it is Forte.

Lacy had a monster game, too. That guy is a beast.

I’m not going that far. They gave up contain several times and I think they were bringing extra guys when it was clear that Wallace wasn’t going to hurt them downfield. Nice to see some penetration there, but Peppers was still slow and couldn’t shed and the middle of the line got nothing going except Wooten in the Nickel.

Forte was great today, but he needs to be in space to be effective. The Bears still don’t have a guy that can find 2 yards between the tackles when there’s a stalemate at the line. Bush is too fat and slow, the Bears need a downhill running thumper or a fireplug who pick through tight seams.

Lacy is playing well but did you see some of the horrible tackling from the Bears? We had safeties taking themselves out of the play entirely with horrible angles and there were some gaping holes to run through.

Glad we won, but damn that defense sucked.

If you’re tired of over-reaction and hyperbole in sports opinion nowadays, tired that everything is whittled down to what-have-you-done-for-me-this-fucking-second soundbites, you’ll be pleasantly refreshed by how measured and understated the reaction to the Foles’ game got in the media. Everyone talked about it, of course, but everyone also seemed strangely hesitant and reluctant. This from people who make their living in the sensational.

It’s the reaction that is perfectly deserved, but this was the single greatest statistical performance by a QB in the history of the NFL. Did it lead PTI? No, it was the 4th NFL story. And almost nobody in the media changed their opinion about Foles (not even the coach, I guess) and most think he’s still nothing more than a solid backup.

An overreaction to the hype surrounding Flynn’s 6 TD game and subsequent vanishing perhaps?

Bullying never happens in secret, or to just one person. While I don’t know all the specifics of this situation, Martin may well be justified in thinking “and where the hell were you guys?” with regards to his team.

Given the response to Riley Cooper’s slur this summer, it’s hard for me to think that a white guy referring to a black rookie as a “half n****r piece of shit” is “typical” hazing.
