NFL Yardage Pool Competition 2010

Used:
Chad Henne, Philip Rivers, Tony Romo, Matt Hasselbeck, Kyle Orton, Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb
Frank Gore, Maurice Jones-Drew, Adrian Peterson, Rashard Mendenhall, Steven Jackson, Chris Johnson, Ray Rice
Steve Smith (CAR), Mark Clayton, Marques Colston, Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant, Percy Harvin, Mike Wallace
Week 8:
Jon Kitna
Cedric Benson
Calvin Johnson

Let’s see if I can continue my trend of picking the worst possible combination of players again this week!

Tom Brady
Jamaal Charles
Pierrce Garcon

One of those KC backs is going to get 140 yards, but I’m not sure which one.

I really need a big week from Benson in the Dynasty league, so if you could unpick him that would be AWESOME.

Make that Ryan Torain instead of Jones.

QB: [del]Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Tony Romo, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers, Kyle Orton[/del]
RB: [del]Chris Johnson, Steven Jackson, Adrian Peterson, Ronnie Brown, Maurice Jones-Drew, LaDanian Tomlinson, Frank Gore[/del]
WR: [del]Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne, Miles Austin, Brandon Marshall, DeSean Jackson, Percy Harvin, Anquan Boldin[/del]
Matt Schaub
Darren McFadden
Santana Moss

379 + 69 + 101 = 549

Actually had a strong week for a change. Helps when you actually get to include the early games.

201 [100.5] + 111 + 56 = 368 [267.5]

QB: [del]Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Tony Romo, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers, Kyle Orton, Matt Schaub[/del]
RB: [del]Chris Johnson, Steven Jackson, Adrian Peterson, Ronnie Brown, Maurice Jones-Drew, LaDanian Tomlinson, Frank Gore, Darren McFadden[/del]
WR: [del]Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne, Miles Austin, Brandon Marshall, DeSean Jackson, Percy Harvin, Anquan Boldin, Santana Moss[/del]
Eli Manning
Michael Turner
Mike Williams of Tampa Bay (gulp)

[del]peyton manning, ronnie brown, chad ochocinco, drew brees, brandon jackson, santana moss, tony romo, frank gore, mike sims-walker, aaron rodgers, cedric benson, brandon marshall, eli manning, mjd, steve smith 2.0, matt schaub, matt forte, anquan boldin, josh freeman, steven jackson, mike williams (tam)[/del]
Ben Roethlisberger, Ryan Torain, Reggie Wayne
195+10+39 = 244. Ugh.

This week:
Jay Cutler, Adrian Peterson, Antonio Gates

There’s a very decent chance that Gates doesn’t start, RNATB. They may just give him some time off with the bye week coming up to recover. Keep an eye on it.

Spreadsheet is updated.

I feel kind of bad giving Varlos a handicap of a 0 for the Philip Rivers double pick which sets him back a decent bit. On the other hand - the data is right there to double check to make sure you’re making valid picks. But I did have one solution to partially mitigate the problem.

Instead of just dropping the worst week at the end of the year, we could drop the worst position-week, meaning you might drop your 0 QB score from week 5 and your RB score of 29 from week 9, etc. This would still protect people who missed a week, but it’d also add some protection for someone who goofed up and picked a duplicate but otherwise didn’t miss a week.

Not a big deal either way, since Varlos’ 0 QB week will probably be his worst week (and hence dropped under the current system), just throwing it out there as an idea.

Scores for week 8:

  1. SenorBeef 375
  2. Omniscient 360
  3. VarlosZ 268
  4. RNATB 147

Scores by position so far this year:

QB:

  1. SenorBeef 1812
  2. RNATB 1754
  3. Varlos 1746
  4. Omni 1544

RB:

  1. SenorBeef 651
  2. Varlos 543
  3. Omni 533
  4. RNATB 292

WR:

  1. RNATB 484
  2. VarlosZ 270
  3. SenorBeef 236
  4. Omniscient 217

Surprised to see I’m #1 in the QB department. Seems like I keep missing all my QB’s best weeks - I’ve yet to have anyone register a truly low score (except Rodgers at 181) but it seems like whatever QB I pick throws for 400 yards the week before and the week after my pick, but throws a 240 my week.

Interesting to see that we’re all stomping RNATB at RB… but he’s stomping all of us at WR, by a similar margin.

Actually, that’s what I thought we were doing already. Seems like a better all around system to me.

I’m pretty sure that last year we just dropped one week, period, rather than one position-week.

Josh Freeman
Michael Turner
Mike Williams TB

Yep, I’m doubling down on the TB passing offense.

Edit: I’m totally not trying to copy Varlos. I came up with my own conclusions based on the stats before I noticed we share 2 picks.

Used:
Chad Henne, Philip Rivers, Tony Romo, Matt Hasselbeck, Kyle Orton, Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb, Jon Kitna
Frank Gore, Maurice Jones-Drew, Adrian Peterson, Rashard Mendenhall, Steven Jackson, Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Cedric Benson
Steve Smith (CAR), Mark Clayton, Marques Colston, Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant, Percy Harvin, Mike Wallace, Calvin Johnson
Week 9:
Joe Flacco
Matt Forte
Greg Jennings

Make that Greg Jennings.

Now yahoo is quoting someone who says Gates is going to try to play through his 19 injuries instead of sitting just a damn week, so I hope he goes for 197 yards just for you RNATB.

Rivers is going to throw for 400 yards by the way to guys named ATuahetagn and HGADy1111jfna, who haven’t played ball since their junior year of high school.

Gates is inactive.

295 yards to S. Ajirotutu. Damn, you’re good.

188 + 81 + 80 = 349
