NFL Yardage Pool Competition 2010

Well with everyone reporting their score early, I’ll just go ahead and update the spreadsheet now.

Week 10 scores (adj)

  1. RNATB 408
  2. SenorBeef 349
  3. Varlos 332
  4. Omni 200

I checked to see if Omni set a new low, but no, RNATB put up 147 in week 8. There are 2 scores of 201. This edges them out for second worst.

Now, the standings as of week 10. These scores reflect the adjusted QB yards, but not the dropped week or position-week.

  1. SenorBeef 3062
  2. Varlos 2792
  3. RNATB 2761
  4. Omni 2584

Broken down by position. I’ll also include the top 3 NFL leaders for reference, but keep in mind every play has had a bye week now so they’re a week behind in production. I guess this would be a meaningful direct comparison if I included the dropped position-week now, but I forget how to do it in excel. Anyone know offhand how to add up a row and then subtract the lowest value?

QB (raw) (Rivers 2944, Orton 2806, P Manning 2663)

  1. SenorBeef 2909
  2. Omniscient 2762
  3. RNATB 2691
  4. Varlos 2567

RB (Foster 920, Peterson 908, Bradshaw/Johnson 838)

  1. SenorBeef 1080
  2. Varlos 919
  3. Omni 726
  4. RNATB 584

WR (Lloyd 968, White 934, Owens 834)

  1. RNATB 831
  2. Varlos 589
  3. SenorBeef 527
  4. Omni 477

Ok, I just went ahead and added the position-week drop. So now the totals at the bottom are sum(relevant line) - min(relevant line), for example my QB scores are line 3. This way the scores you see listed under the position breakdown already reflect the dropped position-week, as do the totals. The total(raw) number now refers to the original raw score before QB yardage being halved, and the Total (adj) refers to the same number with the QB yardage halved, which is our official score.

Any questions? Tell me if you notice any mistakes.

Now, redoing that last post to reflect the dropped position week, and hence our real score - these numbers are directly comparable to an actual pass/rush/receiving total since our dropped week acts as the equivelant of a bye week.

Total (adjusted, position-week dropped, official score)

  1. SenorBeef 2900
  2. VarlosZ 2745
  3. RNATB 2626
  4. Omni 2469

QB (raw) (Rivers 2944, Orton 2806, P Manning 2663)

  1. SenorBeef 2728
  2. Omni 2580
  3. Varlos 2567
  4. RNATB 2510
    RB (Foster 920, Peterson 908, Bradshaw/Johnson 838)
  5. SenorBeef 1028
  6. Varlos 892
  7. Omni 723
  8. RNATB 574

WR (Lloyd 968, White 934, Owens 834)

  1. RNATB 797
  2. Varlos 569
  3. SenorBeef 508
  4. Omni 456

Looks like the dropped week served to bring us a bit closer together.

What’s weird is that WR was my one area of dominance last year, too. So I guess it’s not a fluke.

Woops, I was supposed to get my picks in early so Varlos could copy off me.

Brees
Bowe
Tolbert
Might change those, lots of good choices this week. I’ve been thinking about rolling the dice on Randy Moss against the Washington defense.

Used:
Chad Henne, Philip Rivers, Tony Romo, Matt Hasselbeck, Kyle Orton, Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb, Jon Kitna, Joe Flacco, David Garrard
Frank Gore, Maurice Jones-Drew, Adrian Peterson, Rashard Mendenhall, Steven Jackson, Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Cedric Benson, Matt Forte, Thomas Jones
Steve Smith (CAR), Mark Clayton, Marques Colston, Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant, Percy Harvin, Mike Wallace, Calvin Johnson, Greg Jennings, Mike Sims-Walker

Week 11

Carson Palmer
Peyton Hillis
Marques Colston

Damn, completely spaced on this. Saw a highlight of Roethlisberger throwing a TD, and for some reason, that reminded me that I’d forgotten.

QB: [del]Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Tony Romo, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers, Kyle Orton, Matt Schaub, Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger[/del]

Michael Vick
Mike Tolbert
Jeremy Maclin
And in the interests of a Giants win, lets hope I do just terribly this week.

Once again a running back fucks me by going for weak yardage on the ground and a ton of receiving yards.
230 (115 adj.) + 48 + 113

So far so good:

Brees 382
Bowe 109

Let’s go Tolbert!

Brees 382
Bowe 109
Tolbert 111

602 (411)

Good for my best week, and the third best week of the year by anyone.

Last Week:
Mike Vick – 258
Mike Tolbert – 111
Jeremy Maclin – 120

Total: 489 (360). Salvaged a decent week out of totally forgetting to do this until there were just two games (and, for me, one Quarterback) to choose from. Had I not in that position, I probably would’ve picked Brees (382), but I probably wouldn’t have picked either Maclin or Tolbert, so it worked out.

QB: [del]Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Tony Romo, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers, Kyle Orton, Matt Schaub, Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Michael Vick[/del]
RB: [del]Chris Johnson, Steven Jackson, Adrian Peterson, Ronnie Brown, Maurice Jones-Drew, LaDanian Tomlinson, Frank Gore, Darren McFadden, Michael Turner, Arian Foster, Mike Tolbert[/del]

Week 12:

Drew Brees
Rashard Mendenhall
*Calvin Johnson

  • I know the game started a few minutes ago, but I haven’t seen any of it – it’s sitting paused on the DVR right now – so hopefully he hasn’t had 4 catches for 80 yards already, and this will be uncontroversial.

Shit. I was going to pick Hill and CJ. Oh well.

Kyle Orton
Rashard Mendenhall
Dwayne Bowe

I forgot to update the spreadsheet this week. You can use the spreadsheet to see who you’ve used up till week 10, and just use this thread to check who you used in 11 if you can’t remember.

Brett Favre
Rashard Mendenhall
Mario Manningham
Thought about Sidney Rice, but I didn’t want to risk a potential double Favre meltdown. He’ll get 150 now though.

Another dubious week.

315 + 51 + 15 = 381
Week 12

Used:
Chad Henne, Philip Rivers, Tony Romo, Matt Hasselbeck, Kyle Orton, Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb, Jon Kitna, Joe Flacco, David Garrard, Mark Sanchez
Frank Gore, Maurice Jones-Drew, Adrian Peterson, Rashard Mendenhall, Steven Jackson, Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Cedric Benson, Matt Forte, Thomas Jones, Felix Jones
Steve Smith (CAR), Mark Clayton, Marques Colston, Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant, Percy Harvin, Mike Wallace, Calvin Johnson, Greg Jennings, Mike Sims-Walker, Michael Crabtree
Aaron Rodgers
Peyton Hillis
Dwayne Bowe

174 (adj) + 151 + 170 = 495. Or 668 unadjusted - is that a record?

344 + 131 + 170 = 645

Finally a big week!

What the Favre was I thinking? (My runners up? Orton and Bradford)

Yes, that’s a record, by 54 yards.

Woot!

And Omni damn near matched it…

352 + 151 + 81 = 584 (408)

Everyone had a good week. Except Omni, of course.
