For future reference, is there a better place to grab these stats quickly than nfl.com? Navigating through several game pages can be pretty time consuming on this site.
Fantasy Football - NFL Fantasy has a “weekly leaders” section. Ah, here it is.
Jason Campbell 192
Laurence Maroney 81
DeSean Jackson 140
Thought I was gonna be screwed after Campbell left the game with ~10 yards.
Total: 413
Based on the first half, picking Billy Kilmer or Sonny Jurgenson wouldn’t have hurt you too much as compared to Jason Campbell.
FTR, I think I am within a 100 yds of you in the competition. and I have had only one week when my running back + receiver got more than 200 yds (and it was 210 yds). I do have a knack for picking QBs though.
I did the math earlier. I think you’re 79 or 97 yards behind. I forget which.
233 + 35 + 70 = 338
Well, saving my big guns until the end of the season really worked out well. :smack:
I’m coming up with a 90 yds difference going into next week
I beat you by 271 yds this week (684-413). And I was 361 yds behind going into this week. (5976-5615).
But I was 313 yds away in the gross column going into this week. So just a total of 42 yds difference on the gross side.
I am just glad I am competitive.
268 + 87 + 140 = 495. Not bad, for me, in fact that’s my highest weekly score. Course, it’s less than Big Ben had by himself…
Week 16, in case I forget to come back here over the holiday weekend:
Joe Flacco
Adrian Peterson
Mario Austin
I updated my spreadsheet, but currently cox.net isn’t working right so I can’t update it yet. I will tomorrow
Scores this week:
- notfrommensa 684
- SenorBeef 538
- Wilson 495
- RNATB 413
- Varlos 392
- Lieu 374
- Omni 338
notfrommensa’s score of 684 doesn’t quite top my score of 686 in week 10. Just thought I’d point that out… since that’s all I have.
Standings are updated.
I’m compiling a list of top yardage gainers I haven’t used, and it looks like I left a ton of talent on the table. I probably won’t end up using DeSean or Vincent Jackson, Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Roddy White, Hines Ward, Brandon Marshall… I may use one of them.
I may not be using the league’s 2nd leading rusher, Steven Jackson… plenty more too, Michael Turner, Ryan Grant, Addai, Maroney, Jacobs, Mendenhall…
My QB situation is tricky. I’ve been meaning to save Favre since he has a home game in the dome against a relatively porous NYG pass defense, but now I’m worried he won’t even play that game. I have Roethlisberger at Miami that week, which makes a good backup… but that means I don’t play Roethlisberger this week, meaning I will end up not using one of the two this year, and I’d have to take a risk this week like Alex Smith vs Det this week.
I did too much planning this season, tried to use too many borderline players early to save studs for later. I should’ve just picked whichever players seemed best that week regardless of future implications… I’d have done better. Too many times I talked myself out of a guy who puts up massive yards due to their better matchups/conditions later. Bah.
Weeks 1-15 (so I don’t repeat)
[del]Passing - Tom Brady, Kyle Orton, Joe Flacco, Jay Cutler, Peyton Manning, Matt Schaub, Brett Favre, Philip Rivers, Curt Warner, Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers, Donovan McNabb, Drew Brees, Jason Campbell, Ben Roethlisberger

Assuming RNATB does not copy my picks:
Week 16
Passing - Eli Manning - NYG
Rushing - Jerome Henderson - CLE
Receiving - Chad Ochocinco - CIN
Third week in a row that I tried to pick Eli. Two weeks ago, I got spooked by the winter storm, last week VarlosZ picked Eli as well
Who’s Jerome Henderson?
[del]matt hasselbeck, santonio holmes, cedric benson, kurt warner, clinton portis, andre johnson, matt schaub, ryan grant, reggie wayne, kerry collins, darren mcfadden, jerricho cotchery, tony romo, rashard mendenhall, roddy white, tom brady, maurice jones-drew, nate burleson, ben roethlisberger, thomas jones, wes welker, david garrard, kevin smith, steve smith (car), peyton manning, brandon jacobs, vincent jackson, drew brees, thomas jones, greg jennings, eli manning, chris johnson, santana moss, Carson Palmer, Ricky Williams, Anquan Boldin, Brett Favre, Jonathan Stewart, Randy Moss, Aaron Rodgers, Ray Rice, Marques Colston, Jason Campbell, Laurence Maroney, DeSean Jackson[/del]
Alex Smith
Jerome Harrison
Larry Fitzgerald
I’ve been cautious to pick Harrison, even though my man-love for him commands it. You would think “wow, Jerome Harrison set the #3 all time rushing performance record last week, he’ll get lots of carries and destroy the Raiders this week”… but I’m not so sure. The usual reward for his good performances getting 4 carries the next week, or being inactive.
This performance may be so good that the coach’s hand is forced.
It’s the Raiders. 5 carries ought to be worth 50-odd yards.
[Sigh]Guess, I got to search for another Running Back.[/Sigh]
Or do I have enought confidence in Eli versus Alex Smith. Honestly, I had to look at nfl.com to find out Alex Smith’s team. I have a feeling your are picking ‘against’ the Lions rather than ‘for’ Alex Smith. C’mon Frisco, go for a good draft pick.
You are correct, although if you look at my list of used quarterbacks I’d be scraping the bottom of the barrel either way.
You got my permission to use Jason Campbell again.
Ugh, vacation screwing up coming in early so picks don’t mirror. However, I’ve changed them before when someone had them first, RNATB w/ Brady and Jones-Drew, and to detrimental effect. Next year what would y’all think about PMing them in?

Donald Driver
SenorBeef, I haven’t been around so thanks for totaling me.
I don’t see what difference it makes how you submit your picks. I don’t mind sending them in early, but anyone who did would be free to submit them at 12:59 on Sunday.

I need to make up some ground and if everyone else is picking Harrison that’s not gonna happen.
Other people can base their strategy around what their closest competitors pick - either a person in the lead can mirror a person’s picks to stay ahead of them, or someone behind could change their picks to not mirror in order to have a shot to get ahead. The former case is clearly more egregious than the latter, which I’m not even sure is a problem. In any case, if you want to PM me the picks to alleviate any concerns, feel free.
