Just in time this week -
Tony Romo, Matt Forte, Roddy White.
I officially hate the rule that RBs only get credit for rushing yards. Screens are completely useless in this league and that’s what it seems like 50% of RBs do these days.
Week 7
Passing - Brett Favre MIN – 334
Rushing - Ryan Grant CHI (Green Bay) – 148
Receiving - Andre Johnson HOU – 62
544 yds
I somewhat screwed up my running back pick again this week. I chose Ryan Grant but I labelled his team as the Bears instead of the Packers. Mea Culpa.
At this time, I am taking the yardages that Ryan Grant of the Packers rushed for. FWIW, I checked roster of the Bears, there is no Ryan Grant on their team.
Moderator, do what you have to do, but I did intend my RB to be Ryan Grant of the Packers. (and I desperately need yardage by my running back.)
I’m not a moderator, I’m just the guy who organized this game. But yeah, your yards will count - it’s clear it was a little honest mistake so that’s fine.
When dropping the lowest score, should I drop the lowest combined score for the person’s lowest scoring weak, or drop the lowest RB/WR/QB score of the season individually? To someone who missed one week it makes no difference.
You got that right.
Philip Rivers - 268
DeAngelo Williams - 89
Randy Moss - 69
Total Week 7 - 426
175 + 121 + 107 = 403. By far my worst week QB-wise, but otherwise solid.
I was under the impression you’d drop the lowest scoring week, rather than the lowest scoring position weeks, but I guess I’m okay with either method. It’ll actually help me out if we do the position thing, because that way I get rid of that -5 week by McFadden without dumping the rather good QB and WR performances that went with it.
Week 7 Scores: 175 + 58 + 50 = 283
Yuck. Things were looking up before Brown got hurt and Big Ben wasn’t helped by those defensive scores.
That’s 311 + 24 + 50 = 385. I stink at this - I think I’ve picked one WR all year that’s had a good game.
Omni method can work, but I think this is simpler: =SUM(Range)-Min(Range)

I think I got the teams correct this week. Have our standings been updated? I think I made up some ground this week.
You made up a ton on me - 155 yards.
I’ll take the 155 yds but I think it is 141 yds
I posted 544 yds and you posted 403 yds.
Fine, you win at mathematics too! :smack:
Got it updated along with the new “adjusted total” line on the bottom. That’s the official score - that takes into account dropping a player’s worst weekly score.
Week 7 scores:
- notfrommensa 544
- Varlos 466
- Lieu 426
- RNATB 406
- SenorBeef 391
- Wilson 385
- Omniscient 283
As of now, the overall standings are:
- RNATB 3076
- Lieu 2662
- notfrommensa 2615
- VarlosZ 2578
- Wilson 2520
- Omni 2482
- Anyone who isn’t participating in this 0
- SenorBeef 2096
Yes, I’m actually doing worse off than everyone who chose not to play.
For my next trick, I was hoping to add sorted lists of who’s leading in each category (passing, rushing, receiving). So along the bottom right we’d have rows labelled Pass/Rush/Rec, and each column would be the player who had the most score in that category (and their score), then the next highest player, etc. Each category would have a different sorting, since people have different rankings within the different categories. Is there any way to do this with excel?
I hear NBC is considering calling the competition for me before the polls close
Don’t make me pull out the big guns. I’ll start picking whoever you pick each week, knowing that it’ll make quarterbacks lose 2/3rds of their yardage, and then you will get crushed by Lieu and mensa.
Edit: This made it occur to me that we could have an issue at the end where if one person leads the competition, they could mirror the picks of the closest competitor thereby preventing them from being overtaken. It’s a pretty cheap tactic and I doubt anyone here will do it, but if it becomes an issue we could finish the year by submitting secret PMs I suppose.
By the time we get to the later weeks, options (especially QBs) are going to be compromised.
Edit: How did RNATB get an extra 3 yds last week?
That’s why I’ve been making a point of posting my picks in the middle of the week - didn’t want anyone accusing me of playing defense.
