Whoa! Looks like another “must have” for me! This, RCT 2, and Civ 3: Play the World. I’m gonna need a new hard drive! And maybe a new motherboard & CPU, too. I might even rebuild that extra desktop case that I’m currently using for a monitor stand, make it into a ~1gHz.
Ha! It does look cool, and I liked the first one, but it might be cheaper for you to just buy a PS2 or a Gamecube.
I’ve personally given up on my PC for gaming, which is kind of sad when I think about it. To play the latest games I would have to add a new processor, which would require a new motherboard, which would be a massive hassle. And probably a new video card too. Easily $300. So I bought a Gamecube for $150. Works great.
We already have a PS2 at home. I’m betting on HP2 having support for user-created vehicles like previous versions so for me the PC version would be better. Yeah, it would be cheaper to go the console route but with the minimum requirements for games getting higher and higher I’d have to upgrade eventually anyway. It would be easier to build a whole new system over time instead of putting a new motherboard & CPU in the one I have now, which can only support a mamimum of 500 mHz. I already have two systems, in addition to my 450 P3 there’s a 166 mHz P1 for my older games. Both use the same keyboard, monitor, and mouse via a 4-system KVM switch. I have no problem working inside a computer case, I did that for a living for a while back when the 80286 was the industry standard.
I’m about ready to abandon my PC for gaming, too. It just can’t keep up, and since a PS2 is now only $199, I can justify buying a second one to have at school.
NFS:HP was one of the best gaming bargains I ever found. Paid $20 for it, and got tons of hours out of it, especially with user-created cars that I downloaded.
My only gripe about the game is that it was next to impossible to be the police in pursuit mode.
That’s weird, I could have sworn I posted reply to Elwood
What I tried to say is that I think it’s next to impossible to be the police in all games that have a pursuite mode. At least that’s been my experience with the ones I’ve played.
Also, looking around for computer prices I’ve noticed that there are some good deals out there. I can get a decent new system for around $500; of course, I’d probably need to add an actual video card and maybe more memory.
