Well, better show for the Leafs under the new coach. I liked the lines.

Oh well, we’ve got Letang out, and Crosby too, I know. But at the same time, you can’t just rely on two players.
At LEAST we’re now ahead of the Flyers in the standings. C’mon boys, move up!!!
Yes and I forgot how much it can be sitting up with the real fans. There weren’t any corporate groups with so-called fans more interested in making moves on their preferred gender than watching the game. But, NHL pricing (at least for the Caps) is high enough to keep out the knuckleheads who just want to get drunk and see fights. Oh, and this ain’t the 1980s, you’re not smuggling a flask into that arena. Security was fairly tight, being D.C. I assume there may have been some Congresspeople in attendance.
The only thing that was a slight drawback is that the arena itself is kinda boring, but that’s standard these days with all the new arenas. It’s a fine place to watch a game and the bathroom lines weren’t awful for either gender.
dalej42 - the Caps arena has been renovated in steps over the past two seasons. I don’t enjoy the experience as much.
Security is always tight so it probably wasn’t due to VIPs.
I share season tickets - in the 400 level - but haven’t been attending as many games lately. My son works two blocks from the arena so he uses most of the workday tickets.
While poking around on the internet, I came across this picture of Hab fans appreciating Guy Lafleur, for some reason.
But look at that handsome young man behind and slightly to the left of Guy.
I can’t find the square bracket to add a spoiler, so you’ll have to guess.
If I had to guess I would say it’s Mario Lemieux .
Bien sûr.
I believe they found that a few years ago.
Lafleur was Mario’s hero – he’s always said he practically worshipped the guy. (Almost like Gretzky with Howe)
Great article. Thanks Guin.
Amazing watching a 34-year-old Ovi (with only two other current players having played longer than him) throwing his body around like he was still 22. The Caps, themselves, looked pretty formidable in that department, and not just Wilson and Gudas. Got curious and looked it up, and saw that Ovi is 17th overall in hitting (heh - one spot ahead of Lucic), so - there ya go.
Heh, still cool, though, that the Canucks pulled out a shootout victory over them last night - their second road win in a row after a painful 1 and 8 run. Markstrom came up huge in net near the end.
Letang MIGHT be back tomorrow night! crosses fingers
AND it looks like we’re going to be having TWO Ugly Sweater Nights! I cannot WAIT to see what Dan Potash comes up with this year!
Stars are 13-1-1 in their last 15 games.
Red Wings: 7-16-3.
and the way luck works out, even if they finish dead last I fear the draft lottery will screw them again.
Yep, November has been as easy a month to be a Stars fan as October was tough. If on Oct 31st you told me we’d be second in the central by the end of November, I would have thought you crazy. But, here we are! ![]()
So, it turns out that Babcock is a dick. Who knew?
Yeah, that’s been fun to watch. Seems like they just keep finding different ways to win games, which bodes well. I’m especially happy to see them playing well because their AHL affiliate that I get to go see down in Cedar Park has been just the opposite. They just eked out a shootout win on Saturday to end an ugly 12 game losing streak.
man, I wasn’t paying enough attention or something.
I never knew either. He certainly walked the walk in front of the press.
There’s a picture from a couple of weeks ago with Babcock talking to Matthews during practice and the look on Mathews’ face said a thousand words: disinterested, looking up to the rafters…
I think that the Babcock story that is pissing me off the most is how he kept scratching Modano so that he never got to play in his 1500th game.
And now there are allegations against Flames coach and Babcock protege Bill Peters, who allegedly dropped n-bombs in the locker room against Akim Aliu. Pretty revolting behaviour by Peters if the allegations are true, I can’t see him keeping his job if the allegations are substantiated.
