NHL 103 - October 2019 - Let's Do That Hockey!

Yeah. Great comment.

Go Leafs.

Pictures?

I wish there were. He has always had a cheesy 'stache ,but today it is really an amazing reproduction of a 50 year old porn actor dying his sad caterpillar to try to look 20 years younger. There should be some by morning I assume.

You should get a warning for being a jerk.

If you are talking to me, then grows some balls and report whatever the fuck you think the problem is and , otherwise put some Novocaine on your fundament abrasion;

ie butthurt.

This is a thread about hockey; it’s not a thread about how you think about the look of players. So, just stop it.

Thought that was directed at me for a second.

Canes lose their first to Columbus, off of a flat performance.

[Moderating]

Taking this in order:
wolfman, unless some aspect of a player’s physical appearance has an effect on the way they play, it’s not really relevant to the thread. I don’t think it really rises to the level of a rules violation, but please try to stay on topic.

Leaffan, if you think that something deserves a warning, the appropriate course of action is not to say anything at all about it in the thread, but simply to report it. Which I note that you did do, but not until over two hours after you made that post.

And finally, wolfman, your post #45 there does warrant a Warning, for personal insults.

Not that this will last for too long or anything (so enjoying it while I can)…
The Canucks are on an unheard-of four-game winning streak. Last night they went into the lair of last season’s Stanley Cup winners, and at one point Van. quickly went down two goals and then go right into a two-men shorthanded penalty kill, while I’m thinking, yeah, this is probably done like le diner, but back-up Thatcher Demko stands on his head, and just after the kill, Van brings it to within one and then tie it up, with Demko stopping six shots in the shootout for the win.
This might be my only feel-good post for the season, so I’m gonna bask indulgently, nigh gratuitously, in this.

Ah, but the basking is short-lived, as I curse the schedulers, who, for the first time in NHL history, set up two back-to-back 1 pm games, with the Canucks having the dubious honour of partaking in @ New Yawk and Joisey this weekend. :(

Connor McDavid looked unbelievable the other night as the Oilers trounced the Flyers. If I could pick any team for season tickets, it would be Edmonton, just to pick up my jaw every five minutes or so watching number 97. And wow - they’re, what, six and one, right now? That won’t last, but it’d be nice if they maybe turned shit around, finally.
(And their new arena has that funky Frank Gehry thing going on - neat!)

5 Game winning streak for the Pens, and tomorrow Flower’s coming home! Woohoo!!!

Great!

Oooof. Tough month to be a Stars fan. Right in the yarbles, over and over.

Yeah, it isn’t even a month into the season and it feels like the Stars are going to challenge for the first overall draft pick.

What the hell is wrong with the Stars?

It sucks to lose, but since it was to the Flower, I can’t complain.

Did anyone see the prank he played on Dan Potash?

Well, you see half the problem is that they don’t score enough goals. The other half is that they allow too many goals to get scored on them.

Yes, they are clamoring for my advice in the NHL.

In all honesty, I don’t know. It seems like we’ve spent most of the first ten games out of position at the worst possible times and the other team has made us pay. What’s caused us to do that repeatedly? I’d say it’s the same lack of urgency that plagued us last year. Hopefully last night’s victory will wake us up.

Thanks for your insight. Actually I too see lack of urgency but am at a loss where it is coming from. A lot of times I blame it on Jamie Benn; he often seems, to be polite, uninvolved. Lately I am wondering if Benn and Seguin don’t get along with Montgomery. Maybe it will stir up the “stars” if the youngsters like Hintz keep pushing and working and scoring.

Yeah, I agree. My brother thinks Hintz is likely to be a 50 goal scorer this season. I don’t have much in the way of a counter argument to that. He’s been a nice magical touch in this early slump. I had also hoped that Perry and Pavelski would add a bit, and at least Perry seems to be able to provide it.

Ooh look, we got a real John Madden here!

Any more stinkers like they’ve been dropping the last 4 games and I don’t see Blashill here past 1/3-1/2 way through the season.
