Time for Montreal to knock out Boston again because that’s what Montreal does. Seems like in the last decade, underdog Montreal has knocked out Boston several times. Anybody have some stats on that?
Bruins won the last two times the two teams faced off during the post-season, but the Habs won the three meets before that, so it’s 3-2 since 2000. Let’s hope they make it 4-2!

Thanks, I thought recent history was more in Montreal’s favor. Three knockouts to one in the previous decade- that must be what left a memory with me.
Tortorella’s dismissal was such an inevitability that I admit it surprised me when the story came out, because somehow I’d assumed this had already happened weeks ago.
What a complete disaster Vancouver is. They’re headed for a stretch of really terrible hockey.
They mentioned a great fact during the game last night; this is the 34th time the Habs and Beanies have met in the playoffs. There are 11 NHL franchises that have not played 34 playoff series in their entire existence.
And after 20 years the Ducks and Kings will finally meet for the 1st time. Gives us something to talk about around here other than Donald Sterling.
To the surprise of no one, after PK Subban scored the overtime winner, Boston fans unleashed a torrent of racist abuse at him. So much vitriol was directed at him on Twitter than the word “nigger” was a trending topic in the Boston area.
Stay classy, guys.
Boston Wrong.
How do they feel about Iginla?
Or better yet, Subban’s brother Malcolm who was drafted by the Bruins in 2012?
Fleury looks like a confused kid in goal.
The first goal he gave up was pathetic, and the OT goal was just as bad. The man flopped around like a fish. As soon as the puck went toward the net and hit the crossbar and bounced out, you knew the Rangers were going to win it there.
He is ruining a very good Penguins team, which should make a deep run in the playoffs each year with the talent they have. Except, they have a head case in goal.
Two straight years he’s looked like shit in the playoffs. If he goes out this year, with his lackluster performance against the Blue Jackets already in the books, the Penguins have to cut him loose.
I can’t watch another playoff run with him in net. He is awful. Regular season? Fine. Playoffs? Not so much.
Christ, what a mess. Who knows what got into his head? He won a cup, so you’d think he’d be rid of all the ghosts. But each year since the cup he’s been worse in the playoffs.
He is sucking the life out of me one game at a time. I can’t watch any more!
Well, they also have the worst playoff coach in the NHL.
I’m not sure if this will make you feel better or worse about Fleury’s ::ahem:: return to playoff form, but the first shot (Brassard’s) went in.
So, on the one hand, two of the goals he gave up were because his D left a man wide open 8 feet from the net. On the other hand, he managed to lose the game twice in the span of 10 seconds.
I thought that first shot went in, but it was waved off so quickly, I figured I missed something. Did they review it after the game was over? Because I was out of there as soon as I could find the remote. I was so pissed off.
It initially looked to me like it hit the top inside of the net and quickly bounced out.
So, no, it doesn’t make me feel any better because he looks so tentative in net. That first goal was from what, 80 feet? No screen, and he got a piece of it. It was a straight shot that he flat out missed. The second goal wasn’t much better, but at least there was a nice pass out front by the Rangers. Fleury almost screwed up again in the first period by going behind the net. He misplayed the puck and almost gave up another simple goal. Jesus, what is he doing?
Well, he has a cup too, so I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt at times. But I am starting to agree with you.
If the Rangers go up 2-0, he must pull Fleury. If it were me, I’d pull him now and just go with the backup. Jeff Zatkoff may not be the dream backup that we Pens fans had last year with Volkoun, but screw it. Give him the starts. If we lose, we lose. But I am tired of all the MAF apologists. yes, he is a nice guy and I’d be happy if he was my neighbor, but as my starting goalie to ride to another cup? Not hardly.
Shit, shit, shit!
Bylsma is driving me crazy with some of his moves. He has no ability to adjust in game to what is happening on the ice. He has to find a way to free up Crosby, and he needs to do it quickly.
You are correct about it not being a surprise. Similar thing happened in 2012 after Joel Ward scored the GWG in game seven of a first round series.
Despite a few poor plays in the CBJ series, he was one of the better players on the ice. Full stop.
Not sure I agree with you with respect to that series, anyway.
Perhaps the fans in Pittsburgh should start that chant tomorrow.
Yeah, I don’t know what’s up with Sid lately – it’s like he’s not even trying. It’s fucking depressing.
Hell, the first black player in the NHL played for – you guessed it – Boston.
OTOH, The Red Sox were the last AL team to integrate.
