NHL: December 2017

I still find the three day break at Christmas to be weird, plus there’s not even a full schedule on the 4th day.

The world juniors usually tide me over ok* over that interval.
And the ubiquitous holiday fireplace, of course (with occasional arm).
*Anything just to get the chance to swoon to play-by-play Gord Miller’s dulcet tones.

The world Juniors is a fantastic tournament.

I’m guessing it’s not broadcast well outside of Canada?

The World Juniors is broadcast on the NHL network, which is on a higher cable tier that I don’t pay for, quite annoying.

It’s broadcast on TSN (The Sport’s Network) in Canada, which just about everyone has as part of their standard TV subscription.

My friends and I binge on it every year.

Canada and Finland today at 4:00 EST. :relaxed:

THANKS! Just found games available on demand on the TSN app.

Free?

They appear to be free, I streamed a few minutes. I’ll try later today to watch a full game and hope a paywall doesn’t pop up.

Cool!

Toronto loves its hockey heroes and yesterday they lost one of the greatest. Rest in peace, Johnny Bower.

Indeed.

What the fuck is WRONG with my Penguins? :frowning: Are they feeding them paint chips in their gatorade or something?

:: pours brewski on ground for Johnny ::

What a shitty turnout for the junior game in Buffalo a couple days ago.
Also seems to be a trend in the last couple tournaments in southern Ontario and Quebec.:frowning:

With last night’s win over the ducks, the Knights set another record:

And Guin, I saw that your 'Guins prevailed in the shootout, so grats eh.

I don’t know HOW we pulled that off, but I’m not going to complain. I kept expecting to see steam pouring out of Tortorella’s ears.

Las Vegas closing out 2017 strong as fucking hell.

William Karlsson got his first-ever NHL hat trick in a 6-3 win over Toronto. The team has now won 7 straight, earned points in 12 consecutive games and sits atop the West.

The Knights were an NHL-best 11-1-1 in December and have the league’s best home record at 16-2-1. And with today’s game, we’re just 2 points behind Tampa Bay, 56-54.

That’s a helluva start for the franchise and a helluva way to end 2017 for the players, coaches and staff, IMO.
