So what’s this thing they call a “Stanley Cup Hangover”?
The NHL app offers all teams radio broadcasts for free. I prefer the radio announcers to the TV announcers, so that rocks for me.
Not sure about podcasts; I don’t listen to any (at all, about anything).
Go Hawks!
BTW, we should get our (Las Vegas) team name announced on 22 November.
It’ll be one of these three:
Desert Knights
Golden Knights
Silver Knights
I’m rooting for Desert Knights. I really wish they had just gone with Las Vegas Nights and used a knight mascot, but it seems that is not to be.
Man, being a Sabres fan is tough. These guys can’t score…
Knew it was going to be tough with Eichel out. Then Kane gets hurt (although he is back), O’Reilly gets hurt. Reinhart looks overwhelmed. That leaves Okposo to do it all - pretty easy to set up a defensive scheme around that.
And you look at their overall PDO is 99.6, which is close to average. But their shooting percentage is a league low 6.7% - which is incredibly pathetic. It means though that their goaltending is holding their own (and they are), but it gets frustrating to go to the Key Bank Center and watch another 2-1 loss…
To my absolute astonishment, the Coyotes are building a new arena in the Phoenix area, in Tempe.
Glendale is not far from Tempe. You’d think someone in Tempe would know how things worked out for Glendale.
Tempe is on the east side of the Phoenix area and is much closer to the wealthier population and jobs. The Glendale arena is on the very far west side and a brutal freeway commute during the work week.
Care to revise your statement?
Halloween has come and gone. Thanksgiving will be here in a little more than a week, and I will bet you a slice of pumpkin pie that Torts will be in charge.
Disaster? As of this writing, the Jackets have a 7-4-2 record. Pretty good for a perennial slow starting team.
I’ll happily eat crow on this one. The 10-0
Montreal blowout and the 8-4 Blues blowout were quite enjoyable to watch
What the hell happened last night? How did the Pens manage to fall 7-1 to the Caps? Jesus fucking Christ, everyone has an off night, but this was fucking embarassing. When they hit five goals, I just noped right out and turned off the TV.
Well, you’ll be happy to know they play the Sabres next on Saturday. So long as the Penguins can find a way to score just two goals, you can count on a win. Heck - even just scoring one gives them a good shot at a victory.
The last two games the Sabres have scored, yup, two goals total. They are shooting a miserable 6.3%. They miss open nets reliably so you don’t even need to have a goaltender. And if you do - no worries - they’ll clang it off the post or crossbar often enough that the largest expense running the [del]Marine Midland[/del] [del]HSBC[/del] [del]First Niagara[/del] Key Bank Center is repainting the nets after every game.
I’m taking my oldest son to the game on Saturday - he is a huge Phil Kessel fan for reasons that can’t fully be explained. At least he’ll get to cheer…
It was like watching the previous day’s Blackhawks debacle only with different color uniforms.
The 8-4 blowout was hard to watch. Thankfully it seems to have ignited somewhat of a spark in the BLUES offense. Time will tell…
My son and I scored some sweet “all inclusive” club seats for the BLUES trouncing of the AVS 11/6/16…
Tonight is a big game, Central division rivals Nashville are in town.
Lets GO BLUES!!
Really odd 12:30 PM Eastern time start for the Jackets vs Rangers today. It’s not an NBC game, either.
Welp, the Penguins couldn’t score more than one goal and ended up losing in a shootout to the Sabres. I’m more than a little shocked honestly. The Sabres are now shooting 6.1%, which means they turn every opposing goaltender into a Vezina Trophy Finalist…
Wow, Dallas actually won an OT game. I was starting to think that might be against the law or something.
Let’s hope it’s the start of a trend.
I’m really hoping that sitting Klingberg will straighten his game out. He had been making too many turn overs.
So I went down to T-Mobile Arena this afternoon for the big announcement… took some photos and some video… talked to people in hockey jerseys from all over, all eager to find out what our team name was gonna be… talked to my friend who did the pyro and confetti… then came time for the big announcement and we all found out that our team was gonna be named…the Vegas Golden Knights:mad:
The crowd was visibly and audibly not thrilled. Many of us put our wallets away. A good number of us then walked away, unwilling to have anything to do with that name.
Of the 3 that were still in the running, Bill Foley picked the worst one. It’s awful. Coupled with the clip art logo and the terrible font, this is a disaster of a name. The team colors are even stupid. Oh, and for some reason, he left “Las” off the team name.
I fully expect this will catch on, and we’ll soon play the Jose Sharks , the York Rangers, the Angeles Kings and, of course, the Bay Lightning.
Months and months and months and millions of dollars spent, and this is the fucking team name???
Cite.
Yep, he started it toward the second half of last season, and then it looked like he got hooked on it.
He’s a hell of an offensive defenseman, but he (and both of our goalies) have regularly shown a startling lack of situational awareness over the last half-season’s worth of games. Here’s to hoping his rest has the desired effect.
And yeah, that name’s a little too reminiscent of the California Golden Seals, Bo. You gotta admit that Vegas’ logo and team colors beat theirs.
How on earth did they not pick Black Knights, anyway?
Not sure what would have been better- the Vegas Craps? So what are they going to do, have an odd number of teams? Or add one more? Seems like every so often the NHL owners get together and say “Hey, I know how to get some easy money! Expansion fees!” There are too many, not too few teams.
On the plus side, NHL Network is back on Uverse.
