The Washington Capitals choked away 2 goal lead to the Flames this afternoon but managed to squeak out a shootout win. They have had an easy schedule for their Western Canada swing, so they needed those points.
Leafs come alive in the last half of the third period to defeat Winnipeg in back-to-back games.
Matthews missed the third period though after a somewhat innocuous hit to the left shoulder.
Nylander and his agent must be smiling.
I’m predicting another win tonight for the Knights! Sorry, Ottawa!
On the road four game sweep!
Now back home to take on the Islanders!
In serious news, the Pens have cancelled their annual Halloween theme night on Tuesday and will instead hold a donation drive for victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting. There will also be a moment of silence before the game. (Thank you, Vancouver, btw, we really did appreciate you doing the same!)
I am sure a moment of silence was held at the Jackets game on Saturday, but I am going to email my ticket rep right now and see if they will match the Pens drive tomorrow night.
I don’t think we need new ones every month, but if anybody else does, then go for it.
Anyway it’s good to see The Wings settling in. After starting with 7 losses(largely because they were missing 4 of top 6 D), they now have three wins in a row, and are hopefully heading toward a mediocre season, rather than an execrable one.
Anyone in the Detroit area interested in a ticket to the red wings game tomorrow evening? Single seat.
It has been a welcome change. Yeah, they’re not going to do anything this year, but it shows some promise for the future. The young guys are starting to come together, and Larkin has been on a tear with 7 points in the last 3 games.
On Tuesday, the NHL executive committee approved sending Seattle’s bid to a vote from the league’s board of governors. That vote should happen sometime in December. The city council already approved renovations needed to their arena, so this was one of the last big hurdles. Bettman said he’d like them to be playing their first games in 2020, although that might be pushing it given the arena renovations needed.
Of particular interest to you, Bo - the Knights would be the only team not subject to the expansion draft.
And of interest to me, I’d finally have a team that I could realistically see with a day trip!
