Sorry, Talking about the Artificial intelligence from the Nintendo game.
all us canadian fans can sleep well tonight. I hope Slovakia beats Sweden so Canada has an “easier” opponent…lol, i’m so very happy. Team Canada got it together against Russia.
something else to ponder… Is Canada really that good offensively? I thought letting in 3 goals was bad, can they maintain the high energy offense with other nations? They should’ve practiced their defensive coverage a lot more after the 3-0 lead. Luongo still doesn’t seem to be better than Miller of USA to me. Goaltending is what will really matter. Our goalie better step up his game with this victory.
Sweet - the 50 year string of Olympic losses to Russia ends!
They still have 2 games to win after a 1 day break, but so will the other 3 teams.
US vs Finland
Can vs (so far it’s 3-2 slovakia over sweden by the 2nd intermission)
Great win for Slovakia! I don’t think anyone expected them to make it this far - Halak is playing so well this year! I also think Canada should be able to beat Slovakia more easily than Sweden, but Slovakia should definitely win the bronze medal!
So it will be Canada versus Slovakia in the semi. The good thing about that for the Canadians is we’ll get home ice/last line change since Slovakia finished behind us in the prelims.
I know Slovakia beat Russia in overtime, but they also just barely scraped by a win against Norway (Canada beat Norway 8-0). I have to say I have a good feeling about Canada winning this next game - especially if they can play anything like they played tonight
not only is Wayne Gretzky one of the best hockey players of all time he’s also prophetic.
He said this team is eerily similar to the Salt Lake 2002 team. The adversity and now the luck of the draw. We got to face Belarus for an easier semifinals when they beat sweden. We’re getting the “easier” route again with Slovakia beating Sweden. And all this is due to the seeding system being set and the matches set in stone.
With Gretzky’s predictions, he was wrong on the Russia Canada final for gold. But I guess he doesn’t care about that too much.
A lot of people underestimated Slovakia, IMO - with Halak on board I felt they were at least as much of a contender as say Czech or Finland. They don’t have the depth of many of the other top teams, but they have some seriously big names - Gaborik, Hossa, Chara; a number of recognizable NHLers - Demitra, Handzus, Kopecky, Meszaros, Jurcina; and some very decent ex-NHLers - Palffy, Stumpel and Zednik.
Nevertheless I agree Canada should be able to handle them better than the Swedes, just hope we can play like we did against the Russians!
Oops.
Women’s gold medal game is good. Pretty evenly matched teams, But Canada has had a couple nice precise finishing shots, and the U.S hasn’t.
I really don’t think the 12-1 games do anybody any good. The 5 on 3s made it pretty clear the U.S. team is so used to just patiently keeping the puck and waiting for the inevitable Defense or Goaltender mistake leaving an open one. They are having trouble actually creating an opportunity on their own against a disciplined team.
ABout half a game to figure it out though.
Gold, baby!
ETA: Fucking automatic editing - that’s all caps up there!
I’m in love with Meghan Agosta. 9 goals and 6 assists in 5 games and a stone-cold fox to boot.
It was a good game all in all. The outcome was kinda crappy, but that happens every once in a while
I do fear for the future of Olympic Women’s hockey though. The Bronze medal game was great as well, which helps, but it was depressing to se ethe rest of the word has actually regressed from last time. I’m not sure how long a sport with two competitors will pass muster, particularly with one of the powerhouses being the U.S. and there isn;t a whole lot of International love toward giving us a hand.
Grats to the Canadians.
The euphoria of a women’s gold medal would be nothing compared to the men’s team bringing the Gold. I’m happy with the outcome, I’d be more than happy, more like off the wall exuberance with a men’s gold win.
Yeah, it’s kinda crappy that your reward for being good at your sport is that it gets dropped from the Olympics. I do see both sides of this, though - it really is too lopsided at this point. I don’t know what the solution is that doesn’t involve the Canadian and American girls getting penalized for excellence.
The US feasts upon stupid puck-handling by goalies, don’t they?
Yep that one was ugly
That one was purdy though
Wow I always liked Kiprusoff, this is not normal.
