Or Grubauer could get chased from the goal himself in the next outing. It is the playoffs, after all.
The Stars even up the series in a convincing fashion. Hopefully their forwards who left the game can return soon.

You need to stop talking up your team. You did this, and they got the absolute shit kicked out of them by Vegas and are down 2-1. Always rip your favourite team; it’s better karma.
I know! My wife double-jinxed it by wearing her Oilers jersey.
Stupid Oilers.
However, we do have the best hockey watching setup around. I bought a $100 LED projector and we project onto the open lid of our hot tub cover and watch hockey on a big screen while drinking cocktails in the tub. It made the loss a little easier to take.
Next game in a few hours.
Holy crap, that sounds like the perfect way to watch.
I love a good hot tub, but two and a half hours?! Hardcore.
We generally set up to watch the third period in the tub, while watching the first two the traditional way. You’re right - two and a half hours would turn me into a raisin.
We also turn down the temp in the hot tub to 100 so we don’t cook.
These new little LED projectors are crazy good for the price. You can put them on a photo tripod, so setting them up to project on anything is a snap. The knock on them previously was that they were lower resolution (VGA or 720p), and quite dim. But the new models just out are full HD, and put out quite a lot of light - enough that we could project onto a 6’ screen at dusk with quite a bit of ambient light and it was totally fine.
If I were an apartment dweller, I’d probably buy one of those instead of a flat screen TV. Project on a wall and you can have an 80" TV for a hundred bucks.
Anyway, next Oiler game coming up.
I just like watching Connor skate down the effing ice.
Vaguely exhilirating.
bloody leafs
Gotta say Carolina vs New Jersey never really seemed like a fun series. Canes win this one easily, but I don’t see them getting past Florida or some crazy Leafs team that gets scorching hot really quick overnight.
Alex Pietrangelo suspended for one game tonight.

I don’t know if one game is really enough to end this BS.
In the end the whole situation is less than ideal but the best outcome was to suspend Nurse and Pietrangelo one game each.
Pietrangelo got lucky and Nurse got unlucky IMO.
I love that the Stars made Grubauer look iffy last night. Once again, Hintz is on fire. Robertson isn’t getting goals but he is piling up some assists. Both Domi and Dadonov have been great in the playoffs and are looking like brilliant additions at the trade deadline.
Indeed. I’m particularly surprised at how effective Domi has been. Pretty much a point a game in the playoffs. Just behind Robertson and tied with Benn.
I sure hope that no goal call doesn’t have a huge bearing on the rest of the game.
It would be one of the greatest shames in North American sports history if his never won a Cup.
Dammit, I missed the Leafs game last night. Completely forgot about it. Was a good one, too, with Leafs coming up from a two-goal deficit and going into overtime. Panthers win and go to the conference final for the first time I think since 1996. Leafs go to play golf, as they’ve been doing for much of the NHL post-season for the past 56 years.
Time to resurrect my prediction from April 29: if the Leafs get past Round 1 (they did) they’ll choke in Round 2 (they did – I’m surprised they went five games). I don’t care any more but it really used to piss me off how unmotivated the entire organization was. If you’re rolling in money and constantly selling out your arena, winning isn’t important. It’s a complacent culture that seems to rub off on the players. Every once in a while some MLSE official has to say something like “We really care about winning. Honest!”. Which nobody believes.
Fun fact: almost no one who attends a Leafs game has ever seen them win the Stanley Cup, or even come close. Anyone who was a hearty young man of 30 at the time would be a less-than-hearty 86 now.
Another fun fact: the last time the Leafs won the Cup, there were six (6) teams in the NHL. Not that hard to be top dog! The league doubled the number of teams to 12 later that same year, but it was still six in the 1966-67 season.
A celebration!
With apologies to Leafs fans, I have spent far too much time, money, and effort being a fan and being shat on – I don’t even mean the Cup drought, I mean their failure to perform at games that I made an effort to attend and bring my son to, whether regular-season or playoff games, it seemed so often the Leafs were phoning it in. They weren’t really there. Meanwhile their club continues arena sellouts and raises ticket prices beyond the bounds of reason – if and when you can even get them.
Fuck the Leafs.
.
Going from the idea of an all Canadian finals to a possible last 4 of Florida, Carolina, Vegas and Dallas has got to drive any Canadian crazy.
In addition to the 55 year Cup/ Finals drought, I understand the Leafs are now the team that has gone the longest without a Conference Finals appearance.
ETA: It is going to be a beautiful day for golf in Toronto today…
Please! Give the hapless Leafs due credit. It should be 56 years!
It will be very cool when it reaches the century mark! 100 years of losing (but MLSE making record profits throughout)!
This is the counter to anyone who gripes about “fair weather fans”.
If you have a dedicated fanbase who will support you no matter what, doing the bare minimum is financially responsible. Recruiting the best coaches and players and other personnel can be expensive. If history shows that you don’t have to do that, it’s a waste of money to try hard.
I feel for you.
