NHL Playoffs 2025

Indeed, that was a fucking crazy third period. Such a great game to watch. All game sevens are pretty great, but that might be one for the ages. The teams were so closely matched, luck heavily influenced things more often than not in the series. Colorado largely being defeated by goals scored by a player they couldn’t come to terms with about money a few months ago is a bit of a story. I take back all my misgivings about a player being traded twice in a season. He knew what he wanted, and he went for it.

As far as who wins tomorrow, I honestly don’t know who I’d rather the Stars face. I don’t think either would be as difficult as the Avalanche, but both deserve to be in the second round.

One of the hockey podcasts I listen to mentioned that Pete DeBoer has never lost a game 7 and he’s been in quite a few with multiple teams.

Damn impressive

Yep, he’s apparently the only player or coach to go 9-0 in game sevens.

DeBoer is an X-man. His mutant power is not losing in a game 7.

Also, last night was the 3rd game 7 in Wyatt Johnstons’ career. He has scored a goal in all of them.

In game 6, Rantanen and Hintz were the first team mates to have 4 point periods in the same playoff game. In game 7 Rantanen became the first player to have back to back playoff games with 4 point periods. Pretty much a legendary performance.

I’m getting excited for Jets vs Blues tonight.

Game sevens are fun. Although I work with a lot of Blues fans, I’d like to see the Jets win this

HOLY CRAP!! Tying goal for Jets at 1.6 secs remaining!! OT GAME SEVEN!

To me, there’s nothing more exciting than overtime playoff hockey. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Yeah, that was a nutso game. Game seven OT is the craziest, and that was even crazier than most. I think you might have had to straight up murder someone to get a penalty in that OT.

Now it’s Stars vs. Jets in the next round. It ought to be another good series.

Round 1 is finished. We’re a quarter way through and I’m exhausted. A lot of drama, mostly in the West where the Jets tie game 7 with 1.6 seconds left and win in overtime, the Oilers looked out of their depth against the Kings then right the ship and win going away, and the Stars stun the Avalanche with 4 goals in the 3rd period of game 7.

I DVRed the Blues-Jets game so I could watch later and skip through breaks. I set the recording to go an hour later than scheduled. The recording ended with about 9:30 left in 2OT, so I had to go look online for the final score. I should have figured my Blues would figure out a way to squander a 3-1 lead late in the game. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

I am sure it will surprise no one to hear that it was the latest tying goal in a Game 7 in NHL history.

I can only imagine what being in that crowd would have been like. Utter bedlam.

Indeed, sadly, the Leafs have not done much to show that they are not the same old Leafs.

Here are 2nd Round picks by NHL sports writers: Link

Last night I saw Stolarz take a shot that knocked his mask off. Later I saw him get run over by Bennett (I think). I went to do other stuff and I missed Stolarz puking at the bench and then getting removed to the hospital. Neither incident looked too bad individually, however in combination they may have been problematic. Stolarz was apparently still vomiting while being stretchered into the ambulance. Hopefully he is okay.

Saw a post on social media yesterday: “Why watch the NHL playoffs, when you could just snort cocaine and then drive a motorcycle out of a helicopter?”

In the first 100+ years of the NHL there had only been a multiple goal deficit overcome in the third period of a game 7 three times. This year, the Stars did it on Saturday and the Jets did it on Sunday.

In NHL related, but not really playoff news. Utah finally got a name today!

Odd choice. Mammoth doesn’t exactly evoke a feeling of speed and grace.

And didn’t mammoths live in like half the states?

Hey, anything’s better than “Hockey Club”, and it’s one that hasn’t been worn out already.
