Well, that was a shellacking.
The Islanders seem to not realize they had a game last night.
I stopped watching after it hit 4-0. The Isles had one shift where they threatened, and the rest was all Lightning. I think it was their worst playoff loss ever.
I had to watch a recap. The Lightning had a number of good scoring chances beside the ones that went in. Could have been worse.
One of the announcers counted something like 8 or so odd-man rushes for the Bolts, just in the first period. That’s just crazy for a defensive-minded team like the Isles.
Montreal pulled one of their easier wins of the postseason and are up 3-2 on Vegas.
If they do make the Finals they will surely be one of the more surprising entrants in many years. They finished fourth in what everyone thought was a weak division and only won 24 games out of 56. They scored fewer goals than they allowed.
If the Isles don’t get past the Lightning, I’ll be rooting for the Habs. If nothing else, the celebration in Montreal will be epic!
I want to see the Knights win it, although that’s looking like more and more unlikely. I just want to see Flower get another ring.
Everybody’s talking about Barzal’s hit on Rutta, but I keep thinking of Ilya Sorokin. Those pucks are going what, 30+ mph?
Oh, and I want one of these, big time.
Ugh, overtime. I can’t take the stress!
Woo hoo! Beau for the win!!!
Yeah both good semis so far
Where are the goal judges in Montreal?
In the owner’s pocket?
Another thriller.
Well, I was completely wrong. Congratulations to Montreal
Where does Bergevin find those suits?
Same place Don Cherry found his?
A few minutes to the start of game 7: I have no fan interest in either team but for the sake of a 4th seed final, I hope the Islanders win.
Thanks! Go islanders!
Oh well, it’s Habs-Bolts.
I note, once again with great irritation, how many pundits and fans are confidently making predictions like “Tampa Bay in 7.”
I will state this right now; I absolutely will, without a moment’s hesitation, bet $1000, and give 3-2 odds, against anyone making a specific prediction that a team will win a given playoff series in seven games, in ANY major professional sport. I don’t even have to know who they’re betting on; I know I am getting the best of that bet. I just adore the hubris of anyone who says that the series is going to be so close that it will go seven games but nonetheless they specifically know which of the two evenly matched teams will win Game 7, and furthermore, and equally certain that no matter which team goes up 3-2, the one that lost three of the first five games will certainly win Game 6.
