What was the old message? I don’t remember it but it didn’t seem intimidating to me.
“Report violators for summary execution!”
Huh? I see advertising messages on every page.
We delete spam, which often contains advertising.

In that case I’ll try to work my 100% guaranteed herbal male enhancement products subtly into the conversation.
When I saw the title of this thread I thought SDMB members should be alert to nice messages and should alert moderators accordingly:
Hey TubaDiva, Q.E.D. says he just discovered the cure for cancer !!!
No – for the “report this post” message – if you click the exclamation point symbol at the top right of any post except one of your own, you go to a screen where you can report the post. There’s a box where you type in the reason, and below that the message as I quoted it. It used to be something like “use this ONLY to report evildoing of the most egregious nature,” so people commented from time to time “oh, I didn’t want to use that to just ask them to move a post,” ven though that’s the fastest way to ask a mod to move a post.
Thus the new, friendlier message.
Great. We’ve been asking for this change since forever. (So why did you slip it in without saying anything?)
The new SDMB: All your requests fulfilled, sometime this millennium.
Actually, this is evidently an ongoing problem. Every time we upgrade to a newer board version, vB resets to a default and you get the nasty version of the message. Then, sometime later, we realize this and change it to a “friendlier” version.
Here’s a thread from September of 2005 where someone noticed the same thing.
I assume that when we update the version again, it will revert to a default. Would one of you please email tubadiva to reset the message the next time we update vB?
Thanks.
