Nicolas Cage on finance: trouble meeting 20 multimillion $ mortages is your business manager's fault

Still, I think it’s perfectly within the realm of possibility that his biz manager made questionable moves on Cage’s behalf, then misrepresented the health of the portfolio so that his company could continue to collect astronomical fees. This can and does happen all the time. So I don’t think it’s automatically wrong for him to want to sue.

It never ceases to amaze me how otherwise seeming intelligent and successful people close their eyes and turn over their entire cash to one financial advisor. First, if the advisor was that good, he would be retired already. Second, why not get a second opinion?

I would like to know who was the main driver of this high-end real estate strategy? Sometimes advisors/managers are merely conduits through which celebrities implement their own wacky and misguided investment ideas.

Yeah, you’ve got to wonder if this is like the celebrity doctor syndrome that killed Michael Jackson - did Cage shop around until he found a business manager who didn’t refuse to put his questionable investment strategy into action?

You don’t have to listen to every bit of your business manager’s advice and he can’t make you do things. Seems implausible that they guy actively encouraged Cage to buy all of these various properties and I for one would like to see some physical proof that he did so before I say it is his fault.

That triangular-ish castle is beautiful. It almost looks fake. Surely common sense takes precedence over your business manager’s acquiescence? If I hire an electrician and tell him I want him to wire the house with strings of liquorice and use platinum-plated screws in the fixtures, and what’s more if he goes along with it I’ll pay him double his usual costs to do it, doesn’t that make me the idiot?

So, I don’t understand Nicolas Cage. I tolerate the guy, but if he’s not good looking, not one of the great actors, *and *he’s an arsehole, why do they keep him around? If anyone has any juicy primadonna stories about him, please share.

Those mansions are amazing. Cage is still an idiot.

1 million on comic books…

I think that’s basically what happened to Burt Reynolds in the '80s. Everybody knew he needed the money, so they offered him pittances to do crap movies, and eventually he was forced to do TV work.

Well in fairness, he sold his comic books.

Khadaji:

Well, he needs to get baby-name ideas from somewhere…don’t want to skimp on the source material and possibly end up with a bad baby name because you just didn’t know what else was out there…

If memory serves me right, Billy Joel got cleaned out by his financial manager. The list of pro athletes who trusted a financial advisor ,all the way to brokesville, would be long. Some dropped a bunch into Madoff investments. There are thieves everywhere.

wwWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANT!

Both Cage and his financial adviser are morons. Cage for his purchases. His financial adviser for not quitting when he realized how much of a moron his client is.
