Well, she had very cute ears. Kinda mouselike. Right after the announcer guys sing their bit, Maria walks past the girl as she starts to sing her part, and the commercial cuts to a close-up of her.
The ballgirl? She’s cute, but very very young looking.
I was wondering who that girl was. Is the look of absolute concentration before a tennis match part of her actual persona, or was it merely assumed for the ad, do you think?
The thing is, she didn’t look pretty at all in the add, just rather angry.
Yes, but in every other photo of her, she’s pretty darn good looking. She has a wonderful smile that would have ruined the ad.
Didn’t like it, though I didn’t know who she was, and she looked more pissed off than pretty. I guess I get it now.
One wonders; if she got hit in the nose with a ball Marsha Brady style, would she miss all the “I Feel Pretty” talk?
I saw this commercial for the first time this morning. I especially liked how they concentrate on her unsmiling face during the “such a pretty smile” line
I thought it was hilarious. It did a great job mocking those who focus solely on her looks. In this sense Nike was able to have its cake and eat it too.
It would’ve been better if she was in skimpier clothing. I’m a huge fan of hers, I didn’t know she played tennis though.
Interesting.
I like the idea, but the execution left a lot to be desired. Nike, if you’re going to have people sing in your commercials, get people who are good at it. Like the song or not, I can’t see any reason to butcher it.
Secondly, while the message of the commercial is that she wants to be seen as a serious athlete, it only exists because she’s a babe. If you really want to be taken seriously, don’t make the commercial at all.
She’s a babe, she’s a great tennis player, but SHUT THE HELL UP! Do you have to make that high-pitched grunt every time you hit the ball?
