Basically, it’s a 3D mouse pointer. I like the idea. I’m imagining first person shooters to finally be as easy to control as a keyboard and mouse combo. Like the mention in the article, being able to hack and slash with it would be cool too. What do you all think? Is it truly a revolution or is it a final gimmick that will be the deathblow of Nintendo in the console realm?
I don’t know… people play Gameboys for hours at a time and they don’t seem to mind. I wish it had the graphical capabilities of the PS3 or the 360 though. I think the Revolution will be a companion set, but not a main console thing like the PS3 or 360 will be. Even the price of it seems to reflect that. All I know is that it will have Zelda. That’s all that really matters in the end.
A keyboard and mouse combo is vastly better for certain genres of games - FPS’s and RTS’s games in particular. I remember when the PC version of Halo came out - I had two friends who were really good at the game on the Xbox (I tried for a couple minutes, couldn’t stand the controllers) who wanted me to play them with the PC version. So they used an adapter to hook their controllers up to their computers, I used a keyboard and mouse. And I wiped the floor with them - I fought them 2 on 1, and still killed them 10-20 times for each death I took.
