I’ve seen various threads where folks post only “nm.” Or “NM.”
I’m old and hopelessly of of date. What does this mean?

Never Mind, sometimes after something ill-considered that has been re-considered before the edit window ends. Or maybe a double post, or a post in the wrong thread
Or you just realize you’re saying something that’s already been said.
NM
I’m a reformed "NM"er myself. Reformed I say. :o. It took a lot of hard work to kick that nasty habit. But I did it y’all. No more "nm"s from me. Now I just stick with what I say. Whatever the fallout.
Or you say something really really nasty at the same time that a mod is admonishing people from saying really really nasty things, and that post didn’t appear to you until after you’ve submitted your really really nasty one, so you have to go back and erase it all in the edit time allowed. Hypothetically.
Or, you just really love New Mexico.
For the hard-core second-thoughters, “…” is a synonym for “nm.”
Two shall be the number, neither one nor three.
Looks like I’ll never need THAT one. I never have second thoughts. My mind is constantly whirling on to the next big idea or petition. My brain is an incendiary bomb, hurling heat and light in all directions.
But thanks for the responses!
…also, not too fond of New Mexico.
Hey, I thought it meant not married.
No wonder people are blanking me.
Hell, I’m lucky if I can come up with a first one.
If you get in the habit of opening 40 tabs than answering each in turn you’ll find you often need NM when 10 more posts appear between what you thought was the last post and your now woefully late nugget of very stale wisdom.
Or at least that’s usually the reason when I’ve had to use it.
one could always use invisible ink
Looks like almost-invisible ink to me. Try this instead:
There’s a subtle grayness to the background you need to capture.
nm also can be used to strategically point out that you were thinking of posting something edgy/nasty, but didn’t, thus allowing others to imagine how outrageous your post was to force a nm.
I’ve heard.
ETA: has anyone ever been moderated over a sublimely timed nm?
What makes life really worth living is seeing the pre nm. That’s happened to me once or twice.
It basically exists due to the lack of a delete post function for your own posts. You write something and then think better after posting. Welp, can’t delete, so just blank it and write NM.
I gotta say, LSLGuy is right.
Whats’s the wording on “#f8f8f8” as opposed to “white?”

And it doesn’t let you post emptiness–minimum of two characters.
Those characters are entirely up to you. Run with it.

This?
