Eclipses are cool.
Overcast in Toronto.
Eclipses are cool even when you can’t see them.
I can see it in Houston very well.
Can see it fine here in northern Delaware. Can see the curve of the earth’s shadow on the moon. Very cool.
Even lunar eclipses are better in Brooklyn!
I pop outside with my binocs every few minutes to watch the progress. Just enough haze in the sky to make a mysterious halo. Also, the weather is perfect here.
My kids are outside watching it here in Evanston, I just popped in to look up when the next one is. Are eclipses on a regualr cycle or is it more random?
The last total lunar eclipse was last May, and the next isn’t until March, 2007, then again in August, '07. There’s probably a pattern, but a very complicated one.
Partly cloudy here in Jersey. So it winds up being:
Eclipse.
No eclipse.
Eclipse.
No eclipse.
Eclipse.
No eclipse.
Eclipse.
No eclipse.
Eclipse.
No eclipse.
Eclipse.
No eclipse.
Eclipse.
No eclipse.
The sky is miraculously clear in Vancouver. Beautful.
As I was walking out to grab a bit to eat earlier, some elementary school kids were commenting on the colours of the sunset. I was gobsmacked to infer that they had absolutely no expectation of the eclipse, and gave them a heads up on it, tossing all hesitation to approach schoolchildren aside. WTF? When I was in school, eclipses were a big deal.
Ah well.
It sure is purty. And fast! I was shocked at how quickly the penumbral shadow covered the entire visible face of the moon.
Kinda cloudy here… the moon is showing very dimly through a cloud, I think. I’m not too upset, since I saw both the lunar eclpises last year.
Totally clouded out here in Omaha. Rats!
Oh, good, I was looking for an eclipse thread and hoped this was it. Been watching it off and on here in western MT. A little hazy at the start, but it cleared up nicely.
Had my usual eclipse ritual of calling my dad to remind him of the eclipse, just as he was about to call me to do the same thing, and explaining yet again how the eclipse works, and yes, it looks the same here (more or less) as it does in Michigan.
Larry Mudd, a few of the school kids I talked to today at computer club knew about the eclipse, but none of them seemed very interested.
I watched it for a while. Nice clear sky. Eclipses are cool. Weirdly cool.
Solar eclipses are even better. I love those.
It looked so blood red earlier…a little creepy!
Reporting in from Portland, Oregon.
The skies are clear, the whole neighborhood has shut off the lights, and the moon is bloody beautiful!
Astonishingly, it’s a clear night in Seattle, and the eclipse is orangy-red. I watched the shadow cover the moon, then drove home only to be reminded that my house has no east-facing windows.
I’ll go out again in a bit to watch it come out from the shadow.
I spent over an hour staring at the eclipse.
QUite a wonderous sight indeed, even with some clouds.
Awesome view of a rusty moon…
What a phenomenal night in New England
