I have killed the walker, but I did kinda cheese it by running into my base when my shields were down. The game would say “sentinels deactivated”, but they were still there and went active as soon as I left the base. I thought that was good enough but apparently not. At least I got a walker brain out of it.
I just used the main boltcaster to take it out. Slow, but once you blow off the armor, it’s relatively easy to dodge the shots.
I think I’ll try digging a tunnel system beforehand for some protection but without having to enter my base.
Not just other planets, but other systems. I built my base in a completely abandoned system, which had the downside of putting every “go to this place” mission in a different system. Not an actual problem, though, even for the timed ones. Just went through the portal and flew directly to the destination.
Right, but in my experience, the non-quest ones stop spawning while the quest is active…except for the ones stationed at manufacturing facilities.
And I’ve got the same problem mentioned above, where I can shoot off the walker’s armor, but then they can no longer be damaged at all…at least sometimes.
One thing I noticed is that at level 3 alert, you get a dog and two armored floaters. If you take out the floaters, they will respawn in short order–and they repair the dog, making it a pain. But that’s actually great if you just have to take out 8 of them. Dodge the dog attacks and focus on the floaters to reach the limit. I’ll give this a shot.
You can also take out a walker in your ship as well. You have to do fairly short strafing runs, because if you get very far away it will despawn, so a maneuverable ship is a lot easier to do it.
Found my personal record biggest creature, an 8.3m crab-insect thing.
Got a 33 slot star destroyer, I seem to be past the freighter/frigate bugs now, have a sweet fleet going.
Finally found the portal on my home planet.
Completed the Atlas quest line.
All I really need is a mining laser and room for condensed carbon so I can track down that last few species on any given planet.
I’ve built up a small mountainside base on a heavily irradiated planet* and used the Nomad to collect building materials. Also found the last couple of fauna species while doing so.
*That base is Chloe Bryn, an anagram for Chernobyl.
It looks like the last update took Nitrogen, Radon, an Sulpherine off the markets. And with the annoying 3 gas harvester per planet limit, gathering a bunch of it is really cramping my industry of advanced products making and selling.
Although maybe that’s not a bad thing, I was getting hung up in making money for the sake of making money.
My base is a cluster of 15 biodomes harvesting materials for circuit boards and living glass. It’s enough to clear 4-5 million credits each time I log in. I’m in the process of looking for a new planet to make my “home” base rather than my current one, which has devolved into a kind of space plantation.
Yeah I started with circuit boards for me too but then I got a recipe for a Quantum processors which needed the nitrogen and radon and stuff for 5mil a piece then I got a recipe for Fusion injectors 15min and went crazy. Great money but going to that many planets without being able to buy a thousands of the nitrogen and radon at once , it’s a real tedious effort. And I only figured it out about 3 days before the new patch removed those things. So I didn’t make all that much really.
I’m sitting on upwards of 30 mil just from discoveries, missions, and expeditions. I now have enough frigates that I can send out two expeditions at the same time (had to build a second expedition room on my freighter first). Traded in my first ship for a trader to serve as additional freighter storage and a way to easily sell stuff when full.
I’ve been making a few mil on living glass and the like, and have blueprints for both the Stasis Device and Fusion Igniter, but am missing semiconductors. Been stockpiling the other crafted ingredients but still haven’t found that one after lots of grinding. Oh well; it’ll come eventually.
Thanks; I’ll keep an eye out. I haven’t paid much attention to missions. That said, grinding the manufacturing facilities and ops centers for blueprints has been generally productive so far. I pretty much always get a blueprint out of them and I can clear out a system pretty quickly, at least if I have some nav data modules handy.
Yeah I found a planet that was mostly factories. I think i managed to get about 12 new recipes in like 2 hours which really helped me with my crafting goals. On the other hand my game has been so screwed up I’m not sure if I started completely over now that the bugs are out I might be playing a different game entirely.
I just spent an hour rearranging all of my plants to get them organized rather than just having a jumble of whatever in each dome. This game is either very good or very bad for my compulsive tendencies.
Watch this video on Cobra’s channel. If you want to try your luck 1 on 1 with me in Cobra’s NMS Thunderdome, I will contact him and ask to be scheduled for a match.
Note, this is PVP.
Cobra will record the match and stream it on YouTube so immortality will be yours, even though victory will probably be mine. Muahahahaaa!
