Hey, it’s not my fault some people (or even a lot of people) didn’t get it.
I know. I don’t think a (literal or figurative) backfire is anybody’s fault, just one of those hazards.
Meanwhile, Emma Watson just passed her exams.
They should never have let that girl around Jim Broadbent! He does this every time he’s on the set with a teen actress. No woman can be expected to resist him and he doesn’t even try to resist them.
I think the decision to wait until summer is a really really bad one. As mentioned, the movie’s going to gross hundreds of millions if it opens in Linz, Austria on Hitler’s birthday, BUT with the book series being completed the momentum’s already starting to contract a little, but with Christmas and the Beedle the Bard book it could really help rekindle the flames.
It’s very probable that by waiting 6 more months they’ll make some fans, especially the younger ones, say “eh… I’m over it, I’ll catch it on DVD”.
Plus, my understanding is they’ve got two more movies to do (Deathly Hallows has been split into two films), so this isn’t their last chance to cash in.)
The wife and I enjoy the Harry Potter films, but we can’t get all that excited about them, because they have to condense so much into so little time that we find too much gets lost. We’ve read the entire series, so we can definitely wait for the movies to come out.
The just-released issue of Entertainment Weekly is the annual Fall Movie Preview, and guess who’s on the cover? Yep, Harry himself!
I love EW’s take on their online site.
HAHAHA!
According to Roger Friedman, Fox’s gossip columnist, the delay is due to Warner Bros. wanting to avoid having the movie come out while Daniel Radcliffe is naked and (apparently, based on Friedman’s comments) blinding/having sex with horses in the play Equus. Radcliffe’s run is expected to be over by the time the movie is released.
From that above linkie, " A spot opened up in the summer schedule."
One would think that a Harry Potter flick could choose its own spot or say, " The opening will be on this date. Neener neener."
Exactly. And the Equus thing is so old news–the photos have been all over the intenet etc, so I think WB is being exceptionally prudish here.
Then you’ll be pleased to know that the seventh installment, The Deathly Hallows, will be split into two films, presumably so that nothing important will be left out.
Not for the money, or anything…
ETA- and yeah, it’s about 2009 grosses more than anything else…
