No. I should have been clearer; my apologies. This wasn’t a warning; it was posted for informational purposes. There is much understandable anxiety about what constitutes abuse and what doesn’t under the new rule, and since we had amassed quite a collection of reported posts it seemed like a good idea to go through the list and sort out what was OK and what wasn’t. However, I was doing this hurriedly and not looking at the dates. Again, my apologies.
Well, no need to be so reasonable about it.
Thank you, Ed. That clears things up for me, anyway.
I feel bad. I reported Lizard’s post. I did it before the new pit rules. I reported it erroneously because I forgot we were in the Pit; I had thought we were in GD or MPSIMS. The discussion was going so politely, Lizard’s insult stood out to me. I think it was inappropriate, but I don’t like the new rules, and I’m glad Lizard wasn’t actually warned.
Maybe a rule could be crafted that would exclude only insults I find inappropriate–insults that seem to exist only because a discussion happens to be in the Pit, and are just sort of tacked on without adding to the discussion or even responding to an apparent slight. I used to avoid the Pit precisely because of such posts, which were so frequent they made any actual discussion almost impossible. But it hasn’t been that way in a very long time, and I don’t think Ed’s rules serve any purpose at this point. The excellent and reasonable modding by Giraffe and fluiddruid did more to elevate the tone of the Pit than any rule possibly could.
Bless your little heart.

Great. Now I am no longer justified in sticking red-hot pins into this voodoo doll I made of you. And the spell binding it to you is only good for 24 hours. I might as well throw the damn thing away now.
…and that stops you, when?
