Well…I’ll be. Icing too!
Will wonders never cease.
Well…I’ll be. Icing too!
Will wonders never cease.
At times like these I wonder if this whole “Fight Against Ignorance” thing is really working.
I’m quickly losing hope.
I consulted my three cats on your behalf, and…
oh, nevermind.
Kitties also tend to chew through speaker cords.
My cat Blabby ate a Ritz cracker once.
Guin, I had a cat that chewed through my alarm clock cord. Try explaining that to your boss when you’re late to work.
I took my indoor cat Bo outdoors on a leash yesterday. All he did was eat grass.
Sounds like Buffy. Yep, my sister’s speaker cord-luckily my dad was able to splice it back together.
We had to unplug every lamp in the house and hide the cords!
One of mine developed a taste for Chee-tos. Little bastard would take them right out of my hand.
One former cat liked popcorn and salad. They’re apparently not bound by traditional notions of cat tastes.
Robin
The cat I had growing up had a passion for Sliders (aka White Castle “burgers”).
Did you properly inform them that cats don’t eat cake?
This is how you do it:
"No my lovey, that’s not cat-cake, that’s people cake. You’re a cat and daddy’s a people.
No no my babycat, that’s not for babycat, that’s for daddycat. It’s not babycat-cake, it’s daddycat-cake. Daddy eat daddy-cake and baby eat babycat-food, OK? Daddy make her some babycat-cake for babycat? That’s a good baby.
BAY BEE CAT! No, daddy said that’s not for you, that’s for daddy cause cats don’t eats people-cake, peoples eats people cake and babycat’s a cat, and daddycat’s a people, OK?
FORTHELOVEOFGODKITTENCAT, GET DOWN GET DOWN GET DOWN! Get down out of it, you little rat."
[Daddy puts cake back in box, closes box, puts cake back in fridge, rinses fork and plate, and knocks babycat back off the counter for the umpteenth time.]
QueenBitchKitty has asked me to post the following after reading the preceding:
“I’ll be damned. A human with a clue.”
Not only does Midnight eat yellow cake, we also dscovered, to our utter amazement, that she loves marshmallows! I was walking by her with a bag of marshmallows while she was perched at shoulder-height on the microwave, and she reached out and cupped me over with her crooked paw. She stretched over and sniffed excitedly at the bag so I pulled one ou nd held it up. She began licking it roughly with her tongue, using the serrated surface to shred the marshmallow and suck it in. It took her about five minutes of feverish licing to down about 2/3 of the marshmallow.
Mine love cheese, popcorn and yougurt. Specially cherry yougurt. shrug Go figure.
And my cat loves to lick photos. The chemicals, I guess. Weird, huh?
I knew a cat who opened a package to devour some Twinkies, much to the dismay of the human children who were expecting the treat for themselves and the amazement of the human adult who thought that the Twinkies had been placed in a cat-proof locale, even though she did not expect the cat to want to eat thm anyway. I also know a dog who recently partook of three very large homemade chocolate chip cookies and hasn’t been allowed to sleep on his mommy’s bed for several nights as a result, but that’s another story.
Things my cat loves to eat:
Cake
Crackers
Tortilla chips
Ice cream (green tea flavor)
Sauteed mustard greens (really!)
Yams
Grilled eggplant
Pie
Popcorn
And the list goes on and on…
Honestly, he is the weirdist cat I have ever owned. He will jump up on the table and tale stuff off your plate if you let him (and he KNOWS that he is NOT allowed to do it - he waits until your back is turned).

BLECH!
we have a cat that eats the little food particles out of the sink. shes a white trash kinda kitty and we like it that way.
Mine too. But only the white ones and not the pink.
Molly’s favourite odd food however is dried apricots.
We had a Himalayan kitten years ago - he LOVED blueberry cake donuts. Lucky for me, he wasn’t a fan of the chocolate frosted kind…
My old warrior tomcat Trouble used to love beer. You couldn’t set a bottle down and leave the room, or he’d be there licking the bottle. I used to save the last couple of drops for him.
Over the years, I’ve had cats who will eat:
cantaloupe
tomato
bread by the loaf
yogurt
and many other odd things.
But I’ve never had one who liked raw fish, shrimp, or any of the sea-foody things cats are supposed to love.
I have a cat who used to jump on the counter when I made cole-slaw and steal cabbage when I wasn’t looking. Another of my cats is terrified of mustard, and she’ll smack and hiss at anything that has mustard on it.
Kaia once had us pretty nervous back when we had pet rats and one day we saw her staking out their cage. She was staring intently… but our fears were calmed when we realized she was focused in on the Dorito that was in the cage as a snack for the little guys.
