Here’s some info on the Greek alphabet. If you transliterate your word and do a bit of internet searching I don’t think you’ll have too much trouble finding the answer.
If you’re still struggling, perhaps you can try this site (make sure you use the Ancient Greek option). You can type in the word in either Greek or transliterated Roman script.
I don’t think there’s much more help that anyone can provide you, short of giving you the actual translation.
Seriously people, knock it off. If a GQ thread is closed because we don’t want people asking for help with their homework, don’t tell the OP how to do their homework in the inevitable Pit thread. It sort of defeats the point of closing the original thread, ya know?
See, I still find this a little odd. I can definitely see not solving equations for people. Or even translating a word. But what’s objectionable in explaining the principles of math or linking to a language resource?
We’ve always distinguished between “giving homework help” and “doing homework.” Giving help in terms of links or where to look or general suggestions are always fine – I mean, let’s face it, if someone didn’t say “this is a homework assignment” but asked in GQ, someone would probably answer.
Doing the homework for someone is self-defeating. No teacher says “Use whatever means you can,” if those means include having someone write the paper for you. The whole point of the homework is to learn how to do research, how to write the paper, how to analyze the answer.
And, let us also be clear, there are plenty of websites that are dedicated to homework help. We’re not. We also have plenty of smart-asses who think that giving a wrong answer will teach a student a good lesson about proper research.
