No Stealth Bragging in This Thread

Yay good news!

I just nailed a job interview today. I mean I absolutely killed it. I will be surprised if I don’t get the job. It is basically a dream job for me. fingers crossed

Woohoo olives!

And belated congrats to **Maggie **

Wifey and I just moved into our brand new two-story house north of Tokyo. Yay for us!

Oh, and congrats to all the other “braggarts.”

I am actually jealous. Good ones are hard to find, and damn that’s a beautiful instrument.

Olives, fingers crossed for you. That is great news.

I just got approved for a raise after emailing my supervisor. I thought we might negotiate a little bit or something, but he just approved me for a 4.6% bump, and informed me that I had (unknowingly to me) already received a 2.5% raise in November, but still approved me for another one anyway. I do believe I deserve it because I have worked hard and feel like a valuable asset to the company, and I’m super happy.

I need to correct this post.

It appears that I am in the process of creating two new humans.

:open_mouth:

My life is ten kinds of wonderful right now. Beyond my baseline level of awesome, which is extremely high, we just bought a complete wreck of a house on 15 acres of land, and I get to renovate the whole thing exactly like I want. On top of that, once we sell the house we’re currently living in, we won’t have a mortgage payment anymore, so we’ll be rollin’ in dough. AND! I’m getting not one, but TWO PONIES! Swear to god. Life just could not get any better.

And Maggie! YAY! Congratulations!

Overachiever.

Oh my! That is exciting news. Congratulations. May all go well for you.

I bought the following house a few months ago:

1,500 sq feet
2 car garage
In-ground pool
In-ground jacuzzi
Hardwood floors
Fireplace
Granite tops on kitchen, bathroom counters
Detached storage shed
Fenced-in back yard
Quarter-acre lot

… for $130,000 (107k Euros).

Conglaturation!

I speak seven languages sufficiently to have read at least one novel in each of them. If you lowered the bar to reading newspapers, I could add maybe another six or eight to that number. If I don’t tell people, they don’t realize that English is not my mother tongue and that I’ve only lived in the English speaking world (and Montreal at that) for a few years now.

I hope everything goes beautifully for you and your two new humans  when delivered bring pics.

I’m finishing my current project on Friday. Apparently (if they send me the farking contract with my name corrected, that is) I’ll be starting the next project at the end of August - I’m one of a few dozen people who can do my job, worldwide, so it rarely takes me more than a few weeks from “hey guys I’m available” until “sorry, I’m in a project”.

Promoted to managing director and board member at my company. My company is a household name in Japan with a history going back hundreds of years. My company frustrates me to no end sometimes, but I still believe in the company itself and love my team. A -lot- of work finally paid off. I took my team out for a thank you dinner & lots and lots of chilled adult beverages last Friday. I’m told we all had a good time.

You’re told, uh?

The contract arrived. It has been printed, signed, scanned and sent. Yay!

Eldest son has been bumped up to Honors Geometry! Evidently, happiness come in all shapes and sizes.

After working like a dog, vacation is fast approaching! I look forward to beautiful views, some nice restaurants and to enjoying every second in the day without rush.

(If you ever derided anyone for getting an English degree, you may want to skip this post!)

Someone I know…
Started with a degree in English. Became a director of Foreign Rights, then became Editor at a major international Publishing house. Edited a couple of, ‘Major Literary Award’, winning books, lunches with famous authors, etc.

Next promoted to Publisher! Thought it couldn’t get any better, truly.

Now President! (But would prefer to move back to publisher? Wha?)

I couldn’t be prouder!

I got the job! I start Tuesday.

I actually submitted the wrong cover letter when I applied - one that named a different organization. And the guy e-mailed me to let me know, and I was mortified and figured I didn’t have a chance.

But I got the job.
