No wonder everyone hates the Jews... they steal the eyes of Palestinian children!

Voldy can have it - that place is a pit.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Naw, not even that, he spoke freely, in Arabic of course, about his true plans. It was only in English that he disguised them.
In other words, the only people who had any excuse to be clueless about his agenda were non-Palestinians.

Lola: I’m still close to the point where I saw your username as Kung Fu Koala… as such, I am pictuing a ninja koala fighting the Legions of Darknesstm for the fate of America.
Neat, eh?

As others have already told you, I’m not conflating Israelis and Jews. I know better than to do that, thank you very much. Or do you believe that the Iranian producers of this series mean to imply that the Christian and Muslim Arabs are also stealing organs from Palestinian children?

I should relax because it’s fiction!? Italians can rightly protest whenever the imagry of the Mafia is raised, and Blacks can become indignant at fiction that depicts slavery as a benign institution, but Jews shouldn’t get upset whenever the blood libel (which, as I said earlier, this is just another variation of) is bandied about, even if it’s fiction?

You can certainly legitimately complain about aspects of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, but to just sit back and say that you don’t care that a group is slandered in such a vile manner is downright wrong.

Yeah Yitzhak Cohen is not a Jewish name at all.

I don’t like the practices of certain African governments. I think I’ll make a movie about Latoya Jackson stealing the body parts of white children in the Southern United States. That’s not racist.

Fuck you. And fuck Desmond Tutu. He has more sympathy for people who cheer on suicide bombers than those who defend themselves against the practice.

Oh and fuck the Iranians for airing this garbage to begin with.

And while we’re at it they can also go fuck themselves for failing to rid themselves of one of the world’s ugliest religious theocracies. And a triple fuck you to them for their mistreatment of the Ba’hais and the repulsive way they deal with deal with women.

That’s the funniest part of the story, for me. Yitzhak Cohen? That’s like having an American politician called John Smith. Might as well have named him “Generic Israeli Male” and have it done at that.

Oh well. It’s probably for the best. Just think of what they could have done with Ophir Pines, especially within the context of this specific story.

I’m not speaking as a moderator here, but as a Jew. And I’d like to suggest that people refrain from sarcasm in threads like this.

Jokes are one thing, jokes are fine, but unlabelled sarcasm is something else. I’m thinking of comments like

or

[quote]
We’ve agreed to give Gaza up to the Illuminati [\quote]

Sarcasm is based on the assumption that we all understand that the charges are ridiculous, ludicrous, lying hate-filled propaganda. We have at least one member of this board, and I would not be surprised if there were more than one, who undoubtedly BELIEVES those lies.

So, go ahead and joke, but remember that these stories appear because they have (a) governments and people in power who want to keep the masses ignorant, aimed at the Jew as devil rather than focusing on their own misgovernment, bribery, corruption, and inability to better their condition; and (b) masses of people who are ignorant and are kept ignorant, who believe the propaganda.

It’s way easier to believe that all your problems (social, economic, etc) are caused by some “foreign devil” than to focus on changing things, on corrput government officials, on yourself. (That’s not limited to the Arab masses, BTW, we’ve got plenty of Americans who believe that all the problems of the country are due to Mexican immigrants, for instance.)

So, please, jokes but not sarcasm.

I appreciate your concern, honestly I do.
But unless you’re telling me as a mod, I am going to refuse.

If another Jew chooses to dismiss the calumnies of the past stoically all the time, that is certainly there right. I use hyperbole and sarcasm, and, honestly, anybody who’d believe 'em is lost from the get-go.

Moreoever, if you look at my post history, I’ve gone to bat more than once and engaged in exhaustive discussions on Zionism, Israel, the Jews, etc… I think I’m certainly entitled to cut loose every now and again and make a few sarcastic remarks at the expense of bigots.

But they are getting rid of it. The tide of public sentiment is turning and The Young People are slowly effecting change. My uncle makes frequent trips to Iran and he has some very funny stories about young women in Levi’s and halter tops whose chadors “slip” off and blow open (oops! That naughty wind!) when they walk down the street. He had a heart-to-heart with a cab driver about the liberalization of Iran. The cabbie told him an allegory about driving a boat down a river; about how you can try your best to steer the boat to one side or another between the banks, but ultimately the current determines where the boat will go.
They’re not pulling down statues and firing off guns, but Iran desperately wants to Westernized, and they’re willing to give up religious intolerance and misogyny in order to get it.

Back on topic: Even though Iranians consider themselves more European than Arab, if they want the rest of the world to start making that distinction, they are going to have to cut out this shit in earnest.

I just saw something about the Protocols on the History Channel the other night. I can’t believe people continue to spew that filth.

Iranians consider themselves more European than Arab? Wow. Maybe back in the days of the Shah, but now? You’re damn right they have a long way to go before I see them that way…

I don’t mean culturally; I mean ethnically. They consider Arabs to be “beneath” them, (Admittedly not an admirable sentiment).

I could be completely talking out of my ass because my memory is fuzzy on this one, but I believe it is because the Arabs are Semites (a language group), and Iranians are descendents of the Persians, who were not Semitic. If I’m wrong about this, someone please correct me.

Okay, lunch just went down the wrong tube, you bastard!

In all seriousness, Zev…what do you expect? We’ve been a whipping boy for a long time in certain quarters and I don’t see any real notes of change on the horizon.

The best we can do is combat the ignorance and not let our guard down.

I admit, as one of the more isolated jews in the US at the moment (town: 12000+…jews (near as I’ve found) 1) I’m feeling a certain sympathy these days.

Some common sense, I suppose. I know that there are those who will believe that the Jews control the media, the banks, the government, the press, Major League Baseball and the bagel industries. I also know that there are those who will believe that the Israelis are comitting genocide against the Palestinians, control the U.S. and are hell-bent on world control.

But stealing the eyes of Palestinian children?!

As I said in my OP, I don’t know why I’m shocked that such blatant and boldfaced lies are being spread. I mean it’s one level of evil to try to control the money in the world; it’s altogether different to steal the eyes from children. I guess I’m just saddened that this type of stuff is being spread around.

(And, as an aside, it’s also sad that I’ve come to accept the less-demonizing lies that I mentioned above as the norm.)

Zev Steinhardt

Well, I understand. But it’s merely a sign of ignorance run rampant…and the vested interests of certain powerful persons/bodies in maintaining an easy ‘hate target’.

Honestly, until the others are dealing honestly we won’t be making any progress on this issue.

Although I really DO wish they’d realize that if we controlled the media, government, military, etc we’d have just advanced Jews to openly running the world. Why, oh why, if we have this power, don’t we use it?

I wouldn’t worry too much. No sane person believes “that the Jews control the media, the banks, the government, the press, Major League Baseball and the bagel industries” heh.
Let alone stealing someone’s eyes.

It is not the Jewish that are made to look evil by this kind of crap.

Sure, but doesn’t give you just a tiny pause when reputable news organizations give ink to the supposed Israeli plot to force all palestinians to speak with a Texas accent: Sharon Moves Up Gaza Withdrawl Date ?

hahahahaha

That is, indeed, evil.

Hey, I ran into it today too :frowning:

I’m so sorry Weirddave. :frowning: What a prick. If it’s any comfort [which I guess it isn’t]: I’ve never heard this crap around here.
