Because Lord knows no one ever regrets that!
You were the one that started quibbling about well-established terminology. So when someone else quibbles about your proposed amendments, you can’t really blame them.
No, I’m defining “threat” as “harangue possibly emotionally fragile women while they’re going about their legal business” with a side order of “try to fill someone’s head with lies/misinformation.” There are lots of reasons why any given woman is approaching that clinic, and crying “don’t kill your baby” to each of them is about as smart as crying “oh god, don’t drive drunk” to everyone walking out of a bar - sure, you might save a life, but you’re being a scary douche in the process and your message is really broadly targeted.
And I’d prefer for them to knock it the hell off or at the very least be polite, respectful, not carry pictures of bloody dead babies, stop touching people in a violation of the law, and maybe try to act like the semi-respectable human beings that they claim to be. Because I guarantee you that a vast majority of the people entering a Planned Parenthood are not seeking an abortion (cause oh hey, they provide lots of services including pre-natal care), and may not even be pregnant, and all of those shitty actions that they’re doing only lose them respect and interfere with reasoned decision making. I am pro-choice in that I respect the opinion of people who think that abortion is wrong, but I also think they need to back the hell off from others and maybe consider working in support of services to support those scared women who decide to carry their babies to term and either keep or adopt out the child.
Except a lot of these people are willing to believe that women WILL have abortions at eight months.
Chessic Sense, the point is, you don’t know WHY these women are there. Don’t fucking ASSUME. Even if it’s just ONE rape victim, that’s one too many.
And even if they ARE perfectly health pregnancies, it can STILL be a very troubling choice to have to make. And being called a “baby killer”, having gruesome photos shoved in my face, and being grabbed and tugged at is not something that can easily being ignored.
I’d tell you to stick it up your ass, but I don’t know if would fit, what with your head being stuck up there and all.
Which would be why they would have a stroke.
Hey, Guinastasia, I’m on your side here. Could we get a coupla carriage returns between the comment on my post and the comments about Chessic? I’ve got a rep to maintain.
.
D’oh, sorry 'bout that!
What if you knew of a person that did take it lightly, or at least no more seriously than any minor medical matter, like tonsillitis or liposuction? That person’s insane?
Tell ya what. Next time an officer pulls you over to give you a ticket, put your hand on his arm and tell him you object to being given a ticket.
Come back and let us know how that works out for you after you post bail.
Hint: One of the charges will be assault on a peace officer.
Yeah, yeah. We know. You’re such a fine upstanding citizen that you would never dream of breaking the law. And if you were pulled over by mistake you would never even consider trying to talk your way out of it.
Yeah. I’ve been privy to three of them, and I don’t feel good about any of it. But I don’t think I’m insane…rather, I think I’m stupid for not wearing a condom or insisting that my mates practice birth control. I suppose.
I’m really laying myself out here, in the stupid BBQ Pit of all places, and I don’t care. The deed(s) is done, I cannot change it.
The one that’s most disturbing to me is the recent one I had with my wife […], I never suspected that me and a woman I married would go through that. But, she had already had 3 children, 2 of them mine, and she was bound and determined since she’d recently graduated from college that we weren’t going to have another.
Good times.
I’m surprised more people don’t know this; PP schedules abortions one morning per week only, so if protesters are showing up at your local clinic every tuesday morning it’s because they know that that’s the time to be there.
Which means they are probably not yelling at a young woman going in for a pap smear.
What’s your point?
well, for those saying gosh, those protesters could be yelling at women who aren’t even going in for an abortion anyway, maybe they’re just there for BC or a pap smear…
I’m saying um, no, they’re not. If a woman walks into a planned parenthood on a tuesday morning…get it?
nm
So…my plan of shrieking at them and showing them photos of a cervix is a bad plan? Oh well, that frees up Tuesday.
I retract this post. I’ve quit nicotine this week, and today I seem to be especially cranky.
still an excellent plan. Can I come too? We can get lunch after.
…then she could be getting birth control pills, or a pap smear, or an abortion. It’s not like the theoretical Tuesday morning is just for abortions. What if nobody wanted one that week? Is it ping-pong hour at the PP clinic?
Dammit, Little Plastic Ninja beat me to it.
nope, they are closed for those hours on that day except for that procedure. And I don’t think they’re ever slow enough for ping pong, sadly
Well, maybe if you dropped your fetus.
It’s always ping-pong hour at Planned Parenthood… and ladies drink free until 8:30!
