I sent some messages to people about joining our game but didn’t get a response. In some cases I suspect they don’t have it set up so that they can receive steam messages in game. To do that, go to the main steam window-> file -> settings _> in-game tab _> and then click “Enable Steam Community In-Game” - then whenever you hit shft-tab it pulls up an overlay which will let you respond to messages in game, add friends, send invites, etc.
Anyway, we’re starting up a new SDMB versus game. We had 5 SDMBers and 3 pugs last game. Come join us.
I really do not think that you will be disapponted if you buy this game. It is well worth the pricetag, and made even more fun by the fact that you can play with SDMBers!
I’m guessing they’ll bring back the demo at some later point in time. It would be ridiculous for them not to. It was probably done as an incentive for people to go out and buy the full game.
Unfortunately I still haven’t had much time to play this game yet outside the demo. I tried last night but I ended up having to leave to run an errand. Senor Beef, hopefully you got my note before I left.
I supposed not. Is it setup like the old UT assault mode where the roles switch and the other team only has as much time as the previous team used? If so, it’ll totally renew my interest in TF2.
I’ve never really played much UT, but tournament mode in TF2 does pretty much exactly what you describe. Its actually a pretty slick GUI, allowing you to change your team name, and control when to actually start the match (giving time for both teams to join and get settled) I believe all of the TF2 competitive league play is run with this mode enabled, but you might find some difficulty trying to find it on run-of-the-mill public servers.
Any tips? I’m usually pretty good at games but I cannot play this. Maybe it’s partially because I’ve been doing single player in a Co-Op game and the AI insists I go first which leads to immediate hunter mauling/smoker eating/boomer vomiting 90% of the time (and the other 10% is them activating a witch I successfully avoided). I also can’t get through all the sections of No Mercy because I can’t see anything and trying to focus gives me a headache from eye strain, maybe the lack of light is intentional but I have a splitting headache right now from trying to focus on the Zombies, in the subway area I’m utterly useless until everything is 3 feet from me, at which point I’m getting mauled, and turning up the brightness does nothing.
I cried for 20 minutes straight* when they removed assault from UT3. So there are those of us who remember, and miss it.
*Disclaimer: no crying may have actually occurred… but it happened on the inside.
I just can’t clear an advanced campaign. Myself and a mate tried for a few hours tonight. Got to the rooftop once but were then over ran by the bastards. Too many special zombies taking a lot of health off us.
Advanced does ramp up the tension though and makes for a very good game experience.
I agree. You really have to try and plan the “crescendo moments*” and then your plans go out the window when a tank busts in or a smoker gets a teammate away from the pack.
We really tried to stay together but alas still got torn apart. It’s fun though taking as many with you when you’re on the ground being torn apart.
Escaping a zombie apocalypse isn’t meant to be easy and by god they succeeded in that.
*Going through with the commentary on is very interesting. They do a good job with it but then again Valve always do IME.
