No

The original covenant between God and his people is alive and well. We have a responsibility to love God and obey his commandments.

Christianity has brought the ten commandments and other divine prescriptions to Christians as well - to bring them out of their former paganism.

Yup. Nothing wrong with that.

This is where you lose me. Christianity brought the 10 Commandments to Christians? Isn’t that an oxymoron? Could you clarify please?

Was “No” actually the intended title of this thread? If so, why?

If there is a god, why should I belive he, she, it, or they ever issued any commandments? I’m sure many religions include instructions, directions, commandents, rules, etc., but how do I know which (if any) are actually from god and not issued by some human who decided that a cool way to get people to do what he wanted was to claim to have a direct line to god?

Freyr, I think the idea was that the Christians had accepted the Ten Commandments into their dogma, along with the other stuff Jesus brought up. At one point, they asked him where they should start in their beliefs, and he said, go with the Ten Commandments, that’s all still good.

[python]If I went around telling people that I had the word of God just because some burning bush threw some stone tablets at me, they’d lock me away![/python]

Huh. That’s funny. I’ve always thought of the very early Christians as having been mostly ordinary Jews prior to their conversion/indoctrination into the cult/sect of premature messiah believers. What’s this about pagans? Perhaps you mean the general Roman populace? If so, weren’t they exposed to the commandments and other Jewish stuff long before the advent of the Christian sect?

Personally I’m guessing that berdollos accidentally pressed “new thread” instead of “post reply”
