For you folks who are thinking about her (and I know a lot of you are), I just got off the phone with Katie’s dad at the hospital. The procedure went flawlessly, and she’s currently zonked in recovery. Apparently they may let her go home as early as tomorrow.
Keep her in your thoughts! She appreciates it greatly!
And whenever you’ve come out of your narcotic haze long enough to read this, baby, I LOVE YOU! 
You’re definitely in my thoughts, Noc! I wish you a speedy recovery and restful recuperation.
Make sure you tell them you want really good pain pills if you so much as twinge later on!

I’m so glad to hear your surgery went well today, Noc. I was thinking about you and sending healing thoughts your way today.
And Reinhold, you have to be extra-special nice to her (but I’m thinking that won’t be a problem – you’ll probably just have to go extra-gentle on the kisses ;)).
Surprisingly enough, I spoke to Katie on the phone for over an hour last night. She’s doing wonderfully, although a little loopy from the morphine. 
She’ll be making an appearance over the next couple days, I’m sure. It’s shocking how well everything went.
I won’t have to be TOO gentle on the kisses when I visit over the 4th.

Morphine is a very lovely drug that doesn’t make me sick.
Being fed through a syringe is an interesting experience.
Talking to people on the phone while loopy on morphine is fun for both parties involved.
I apparently never stopped talking about Reinhold Messner to the nurses in the recovery room. One brought me back to my room and mother told me John had called. The nurse said, “The FAMOUS John?!”
The nurses in the recovery room (and every nurse after) fell in love with me because I was in their words, “a real sweetheart.”
My doctor was amazed at how quickly I could go home. My anesthesiologists were amazed at how healthy I was.
Everyone in the hospital is really nice if you’re really nice to them.
So, what you’re saying is that you were only a little bit weirder than you usually are, eh?
I’m glad to see you’re OK. I was wondering where you were. Now I know. I’m sure I’ll talk to you sooner rather than later, Katie. If only just to hear about the stupid things you said under anaesthesia.

Oh! I had this funny conversation with my mom while high (low?) on morphine (an edited version of which appears in my LJ):
Mom: Katie, why do you shave down there?
Me: It’s cleaner.
A few minutes later…
Me: It helps with masturbation. I masturbate, Mom.
Mom: Do you have to tell me this?
Me: Well, it relieves sexual tension so I don’t want to have sex. Do you masturbate, Mom?
Hehehehe, poor Mom.
