Obviously he meant “before the cops could arrive.” Did you really not understand, or were you just being a dick about it?
As a general rule: if your interpretation of what someone says doesn’t make sense, try another. Since it wouldn’t makes sense for him to cancel the complaint if the cops had already arrived, assume they hadn’t.

I came home today.
They weren’t home.
There is a dog barking in their apartment.
They did not have a dog before.
You can only have pets by permission and paying additional deposit and rent.
Office closed for the night.
Left a message asking if they know these people have a dog.
Well, you’ve got me scared. I got new neighbors in the apartment catty-corner from mine several months ago. I’d almost bet they were related to your neighbors, Chimera. There was constant door-slamming, loud music, kids running up and down the stairs, friends who would come to pick one of them up and sit in the parking lot laying on the horn, sitting in the parking lot after being dropped off, with the car radio blasting and lots of loud talking and braying laughter. They were evicted a few weeks ago, and the peace and quiet returned.
The maintenance guys have been there cleaning and painting. As I was leaving this morning, one of the maintenance guys was going back to his truck for something, and cheerfully remarked, “You’re getting new neighbors this weekend!”
Part of me thinks no one could be worse than the previous people, but I guess *someone *could be worse. :eek:
So now finding logical flaws in a post is being overly literal?
It’s not like someone said it was “raining cats and dogs” and i asked if any of them were injured.
I thought at most that he was either a) exaggerating his story to make it sound better or b) Trying to sound all responsible by saying he cancelled his complaint.
As a general rule, posters should say what actually happened and not leave things like this p to interpretation.
Yes, it can be illegal to continually make police reports when there is no actual crime.
I suggest you find another place to live. The tell the landlord it’s you (the long term regular rent paying dude) or the new tenant.
