NOLA Dopers: can you help me out (finding a spice rub)

Hey Gang,

My folks took a trip to NOLA about a year before Katrina hit. They picked me up a bottle of spice rub as a present. (Blurry picture here - it’s the rub version of this sauce ) Now, normally, I am not that into spice rubs. My response was “gee… thanks…” (well, maybe not that awful, but I’m sure it wasn’t much better).

I didn’t get around to using this rub until quite recently. Boy do I wish I had started earlier! I am ADDICTED to this stuff. My housemates now think that I can make the best pork chops in the world and the best jambalaya in the universe. (I make no such claims, but I am also not above a little gratuitous repeating… :smiley: ) I had to make those dinners so quickly, I think I only used this rub. (As opposed to making my own spice combo as I usually do.)

So, after I used up the last bit of my sample, I went to the website - (www) goldengrille (.com), and it has to be one of the worst sites I have ever seen. They only list sauces for purchase, and the contact page was unavailable the last time I tried.

I have no idea whatsoever where (in reality) this restaraunt is located, if they no longer sell the rub, or if it’s even still in business. I would greatly appreciate any info you could spread my way. Does anyone have a contact number? Does anyone eat there? If they only sell the rub in house, could I bribe someone to ship me a case?

I haven’t lived in NOLA since before Katrina, but I’ll entertain you until someone can come by and really help. Those bottles look like the kind of stuff you’d find in gift shops all throughout the Quarter. As far as I know, which like I said, isn’t everything, there isn’t a restaurant called The Golden Grille in New Orleans, but I’ve been surprised before. I’ll see if I can find more.

In Googling “Golden Grille” I did not find any references to a rub, but I came up with this phone number (504) 780-0830 . for their company.
If there is a minimum, I’ll go for a couple of bottles if it is as good as you say it is.

Yep, I found their address. It’s a factory out in Metarie(suburb). I’d call them and see if they can help you.
