Non-automated poll: Which do you find sexier: bare skin, hints of same, or high couture?

Your post reminds me of this Charles Bukowski poem, with the line, “there is hardly anything as beautiful as a woman in a long dress.” I have to say I like the way he thinks.

Straight female here: I nth the preference of a man as he looks after a day of work – dress pants, dress shirt with rolled sleeves, loosened tie, slightly rumpled hair, yes, please, yes.

Female, 20s, bi.

Women: Someone mentioned sundresses? Yes, please. Keep it casual and fun and light. I’m not a big fan of clingy - something nice and flowy, but not long makes it fun and a little flirty, but still leaves plenty to the imagination. Anticipation and the reveal is half the fun.

Men: Assuming a man who fits my idea of attractive to a T: jeans, or other casual pants, and there’s really no need for anything else. Well-fitting, but not tight. If he has good abs, I’m pretty much sold. However, if I compromise and take into consideration that the average male is not Taye Diggs: a tuxedo. Even if a guy has a bit of belly and hasn’t been in a gym since high school and has the face of Edward Olmos, wash his face, comb his hair, and get him in well-fitting tux, and you have an attractive man. Men’s formalwear is magic.

Female, bi.

What people I am attracted to wear doesn’t have anything to do with how sexy I find them at any given time (unless they have no idea how to dress themselves and wear weird, unflattering clothes - that’s a huge turn-off in an otherwise good-looking person). However if they have on so many clothes that I can’t see the shape of their body, that is definately less sexy than something more body conscious. Suits are not sexy to me, they’re too bulky.

I suppose when it comes down to it the more naked you are, the more sexual it’s going to feel to me. So the first option.

I don’t think I’ve ever fantasized about what someone is wearing or thought much of it in any context. In a lot of ways I’m not very visual.

Female, late teens, straight.

A well tailored suit, definitely. My orchestra had a concert last weekend, and I melted into a blissful puddle when I saw the first violinist in his black suit and bow tie. (What? I like bow ties. They’re adorable.) Suits can make almost any man look gorgeous, and this particular guy was gorgeous to begin with.

On the other hand, as so many other women have said, low cut jeans and nothing else is also very, very good. Mmmm.

They’re buying the wrong suits. Or purposefully hiding their bodies in their suits. It’s similar to dismissing t-shirts because a large number of folks who wear them choose giant, baggy ones.

Fitted suits (euphemistically called “athletic” by some salesmen) can definitely show off one’s shape, and can even accentuate shape/curves. Most guys go baggy in any clothing style, and I suspect women’s suits trend toward baggy because they often emulate men’s suits. A good salesman/tailor/alterer can definitely do suits which are sleek and non-bulky.

I find those skintight lycra suits (the the women downhill skiers wear) to be incerdibly sexy!

Funny how the more this V-shape is apparent, the more it makes the man look like an articulated Ken doll.
