Non-Racist Trump voters wondering why they're getting shit about racism

Because the racists, the bigots, the homophobes, the transphobes, the people who took Trump’s words at face value and supported him for that? They saw on Tuesday that half the country agreed with them. That the President-Elect of the United States of America agreed with them, and would “Make America Great Again” - which, according to his own words and their entirely reasonable interpretation of his words, included getting rid of all those “undesirable” colored and gay people.

The “basket of deplorables” not only is real, but has learned from this election that it’s perfectly fine to be as racist, sexist, and violent as they want. Why not? After all, if you can be that vile and be the goddamn President…

Most of the examples you gave are about sexism, or sexual assault. Not racism.

At work this week I’ve had to deal with additional sexual assault training, and actually had to kick somebody out for groping. I don’t know if the groping is going to increase, but we’re much more aware of it now.

What the shit man? America voted. We ALL voted that we all get to be as racist and as sexist as we possibly can be. If you aren’t trying to be the most racist sexist person on the planet then you aren’t a real American and you should get out you hateful racist motherfucker.

I for one am a real American and I did my Constitutional duty and I groped 4 women just on the way into work this morning. I’m planning on groping 4-5 during lunch and at least 6 on the way home. God Bless America!!!

So fuck your Hitlerland and your Hitler politics of not being racist and not groping women right in the pussy.

No, we did not.

You grow predictably more tiresome with each post.

I tried to find the origin of the phrase “Lie down with misogynistic habitual liars, get up smelling like roses”, but I’m having no luck so far. Could one of you Good Republicans that voted for Trump lend a hand, perhaps?

I’m stealing this from a friend but it was so very well said I don’t want to paraphrase at all:

Dear Republicans,
I, a Libertarian, have spent a lot of energy post election trying to put a stop to the broad brush smearing of all of you as racists and sexists.
This is because I believe - or prefer to believe - that the majority of you did not vote for Trump/Pence because you support racism and/or sexism, but because there were other matters in this election that trumped (ha-ha) the sexism and racism in your minds.
So this is my challenge to you. PROVE. ME. RIGHT. Prove all of us right who are saying, that you didn’t vote for sexism and racism.
Whenever you find that the RNC, the President, the VP, or any other congress-critter or other politician is putting forth a racist or sexist position, do the entire country a favor, and SPEAK UP and say “NO, WE REJECT THAT.”
Because if you don’t do that, then you WILL be guilty of what you’re accused of.
Don’t disappoint us.

I rather suspect I* am going to disappoint your friend.

Whenever I find that a politician is putting forth a racist or sexist position, sure, I will reject it. But when somebody else says it’s happening - you still have to show me.

Regards,
Shodan

*Not a Trump voter, FWIW.

You can’t just go and look? On the intertube machine?

If you have to finesse that Breitbart is in the oval office, and a thousand other realities, and ask for proof of something anyway, while whistling and looking away in every direction, you have already failed whatever rhetorical task you set for yourself.

I’m not impressed by an argument that comprises of three anecdotes that could have been made up. You lost an election that should have been a slam dunk in part because of your divisive identity politics. Improvise, adapt and stop playing the victim and you should have no problem winning in 2020. If not, don’t be surprised when everyone “checks their privilege” right next to the box that says Trump again.

We shouldn’t have reflexively jumped down the throats of everyone who said “All Lives Matter”. Some of them were agreeing with us, and we alienated them over an issue of semantics.

Coalition politics is not divisive, precisely the opposite. It comprises getting various people to recognize that they have common concerns and goals. An essential part of any democratic system comprised of more than a hundred people.

What we shouldn’t have done is nominated Hillary just because she insisted it was her turn.

Biden would have beaten Trump. Very little doubt in my mind. Sure he’s your drunk (but amiable uncle) but he’s better than the one that grabs you by the pussy.

No, he wouldn’t.

Nobody would.

Trump didn’t win because people liked him more than Clinton, he won because nobody took him seriously.

No other candidate would have made more people take Trump seriously. No amount of ‘meh’ surrounding Clinton could have kept people from voting for her, if they really thought the orange lump would win.

ROFL

Trump had help from “the media”. They gave him free air time so he basically paid nothing to campaign. They never challenged him on any ridiculous thing he said. They didn’t directly confront him on all his lies and counter lies. They ignored all his crooke business deals and yammered on about emails and Benghazi. They built him up and tore Clinton down to make it look like the race was close. The Sunday before the vote, they howled about Comey and emails again, but nearly nothing about the “we didn’t find anything part”.

The media that Trump claims to hate, helped him.

You pull that shit with the women I know, you won’t get home. Be lucky to get to the hospital.

Your premise is flawed, there are no non-racist Trump voters; there are only fascists and the fascist-curious.

Fantastic. You’re telling the actual racists, “Hey, guess what? There are more than sixty million people in this country who, having voted for Trump like you did, are racists like you are!” Is that the encouraging message you want to send to them?
