Non-Sleeper cell -- for those who want to ramble at night, not bright and early

Thanks, Beck. You are nice too. Time for me to turn in. Be well, all!

Boo, are you still here?

Yes. Not gonna lie.

Wouldn’t yooooou like to know?!

No, seriously, I work in a hotel. I’m that obnoxiously perky person you see at 3 AM at the front desk.

I’m that obnoxiously perky guest asking for more caffeinated coffee pods. I mean why would you drink coffee if not for the caffeine? Especially if you’d just drug yourself a thousand miles to be at some 7:30AM conference registration.
Anyhow, that’s me. Any night auditor I ever met was a genuinely pleasant person and, understandingly, cheerfully handed over the caffeinated coffee.
Boo [now I really am going off to bed.really]
Goodnight.Sleep tight.

Goodnight All.
I’m out.

Does involuntarily being up at horrible o’clock count? Boom car jackass something like half a block away, for 45 minutes and counting.

I have chronic insomnia issues to begin with, and the morons in this neighborhood with the “car stereos” that seem to be more a way to torture the employed who need sleep than a means of enjoying music.

No, you’re that welcoming person I see at 3:00 AM at the hotel, who tells me that you have rooms, and that I can have one.

On behalf of late-night travellers everywhere–thank you.

I tried to sleep. I just laid there. UGH!
Today’s gonna be tough.

My parents are 86 (dad) and 80 (mom); I think that they’re generally being careful, largely because my sister lives with them, and has been riding herd on them to understand the risks. But, I know that they are both bored out of their skulls – most of the things that that they enjoy doing (visiting friends, going out to eat, etc.) have been difficult, if not impossible, to do, and it’s just going to get worse as it gets colder.

Thank you, @BippityBoppityBoo – my plan is to get up there for a similar trip at least one more time before mid-October. I don’t want to think about Christmas yet – if I don’t go, I know that that’ll break my mother’s heart, but I’m not seeing how I can responsibly do it.

Yoo-hoo! Who’s here?
I don’t think I’ll last long tonight.
I’m beat.

Good day at the lake.
Bayliss stayed right by me all day. He was nervous at first. Even the kids couldn’t get him to play.
He certainly liked being the center of attention. Especially if you gave him a hush puppy.

The lake was empty. It’s not a great swimming or rec. boating lake. It’s a fisherman’s lake.
Big Wrek had all his kids and grandkids fishing from the dock. They loved it.

Fun had by all.

I’m here, though not for too long – back to work tomorrow, and I have an early conference call with my teammates in Bangalore (where it’ll be evening for them). But, the four-day weekend has helped to recharge my batteries a bit.

I’m here, though I’ve got a YouTube documentary paused in another tab. So I’ll be back and forth.

I have be a grown up tomorrow. 8am (CDT) middle school drop off. Housemate who is with us every other week, so I get used to staying up til 3/4am and sleeping in and just when I back to my true self I have to wrench myself out of bed at 7am. Not fair. Then next week I’ll slide back into my old night owl ways. Back and forth. I liked it best when I was a full time night nurse, 10pm to 8am. I could grab breakfast at a Boston doughnut shop, complete with a “regular tea” (sugar and lots of milk) then drop into bed when I got home. Lot to be said for that, especially the :doughnut::doughnut:. There I go again with the doughnuts.

Beck, Beck where are you? Your :crown: subjects are waiting.

I’m here, for what it’s worth. Glad to hear the Good Pup had a good time at the ol’ fishin hole.
Yep, getting ready to go back to work tomorrow…shit…gotta do laundry, well, good thing Imma be up for a few more hours. Stressing over this mondegreenin shite job I hate that entails a mondegreenin shite 3 day work trip this week.

Poppin in to say “hi”, but I have to be at work tomorrow at 8AM ET, so I’m heading off to bed.

I’m here.

Isn’t that how hush puppies got their name? That what we Yankees heard tell.

My dad took my kids for two weeks every summer up in Minnesota. Best memories of their childhood they’ve told me. Now, my daughter is taking her daughter fishing near Estes Park this week. Hope my dad is looking down and smiling. I know my daughter is looking up and smiling at her grandpa.

BBBoo

It’s going to be a long night. As I said in the MMP thread, it suddenly got smoky, so smoky I checked the little woods behind me to see if there were any flames. I had to shut the windows. My throat and eyes burn. Now my nose is running. It’s hot and stuffy in here. I was hoping that September would bring cooler, wetter weather. Nope. I am muttering curses and glaring out the window for no good reason. I don’t think you’ll want me around tonight.
