Non-Sleeper cell -- for those who want to ramble at night, not bright and early

Time to hang it up. Back for more tonight.

I’ve been where you are. You have my wholehearted support - no job is worth what you’re going through.

Good luck with the job hunt - it’s exponentially easier to find one, when you still have one.

Oh, @Dorkvader,
Tell them: “take this job and shove it”

Feel better soon.

I’ll volunteer to get the ball rolling this eve of Wednesday (but not to exclude our friends across The Pond :uk: or Down Under or Up There :canada:.

Just turned the furnace on (somehow I missed that little step called for by two full days and nights of 40-50 degree weather with heavy rain) but I’m still retreating to my pile of blankets and reading fiction of questionable quality til the book slides off onto the floor.

I have to get back on the horse what threw me. Last night I, *atypically for me, was eating a glorious Trader’s Joes dark chocolate caramel in bed and bit my tongue completely through. It’s hard to finish a caramel with a folded Kleenex wrapped around your tongue to staunch the bleeding. Went through 3 Kleenex-started to think I needed to ask my dentist if I needed stitches. I lived through the night though, but skipped the orange juice when I staggered out this morning to make my coffee. * the atypical part was not my eating caramels, I can do that with wild abandon, but eating one laying down in bed lead to lingual downfall. May put me off caramels for a bit, but they keep well.

I’ll be awake for quite a while so everybody jump on in. I’ll be the one with a thick tongue mumbling.

Boo

Oh my gawd! That sounds awful! :frowning:

{wanders off to go count my blessings, starting with “didn’t do ^^ that”}

Our weather’s been cool recently, but I’m not yet at the point of turning the furnace on. Though I did turn my gas fireplace on the other night. Autumn is definitely coming.

I’m kind of a peppermint patty or peppermint Life Saver guy myself. Hope that tongue heals soon!

It’s definitely cooled off here in the Chicago area, too – it was in the 80s and 90s last week, but now in the 60s. Summer was unrelentingly hot and humid, so I’m really enjoying the fall weather.

I had to run a brainstorming session for one of my clients today – normally, we’d do this all in one big meeting room, but that’s not possible for obvious reasons, so we did it over Zoom, and used a sharable Google document for note-taking. It went even better than I had hoped, with the clients and our own senior management both saying, “this was great!” So, a feather in my cap for that.

On the other hand, we have to quickly turn around the notes and recommended output for that, so I worked on that until 11pm. Now, to fall into bed, and get some rest before another day in the ad world.

I have never understood my husband’s talent for letting out a snore just as I’m dozing off, but I do not approve, since it keeps me from sleeping.

Whelp, no bookend posts for me tonight. Worked a full 8 hrs starting at 0630 and then drove until 1830 for my out-of-town job this week. The plus side to this whole crappy affair is that since it took two trucks to get everything here, on Friday, we’ll all travel back together until about the halfway mark. From there, I’m going to leave our little caravan and spent the night with my Eldest Child and his family and part of Saturday delivering a birthday gift to my Grand Daughter whose birthday was today. :musical_note: :notes:  :birthday:  :notes: :musical_note:

Hopefully tomorrow goes very well so that I don’t have to use the half day that is scheduled to complete this job on Friday. :crossed_fingers:

Off to shower and bed, perchance to sleep (protip: don’t spend an hour watching Dr. Pimple Popper videos right before bed. I couldn’t look away or stop watching video after video. So fascinatingly disgusting)

Last night I fell asleep after sunrise today. The nomenclature gets confusing. If it happens again this night and I’m still awake at sunrise tomorrow/today, I may just get up and then stay awake all day. I’ve done this reset before. Then I’ll really be sleepy tomorrow night (today’s night?) and try to get the sleep pattern back on track. This made sense, right?

Sure, that made sense to me. You’re doing what jet-lagged travelers do to re-set to the new destination time.

Sounds like your brain is wired for a 26-hour day.

Earplugs, baby! EARPLUGS.

Me? There was a mosquito in the house, and I woke up with several itchy welts. No earplugs for those, sadly.

Awake.

Not good.

Sorry about the tongue @Boo,
Dang it girl.

I’m deep in a rabbit hole for my friend. She’s got me checking up on her cheating husband. Fascinating what this A**hole was up to. Right on the internet for all to see. He’s not real smart. Which might mean my friend is alittle dumb, herself.

I don’t know how I got this duty. I really don’t.

What a good idea!the peppermint! That would be soothing. Gonna stop at Walgreens for some Lifesavers on the way home from the school pickup run. Third day of rain here here. I sure wish I could send it soon west-not that I want to get rid of it, just wish I could ease the smoke and spread of apprehension out there. We have grass fires here but nothing that threatens towns.

Stay safe western Mumpers and bug out when they tell you to. Keep reassuring us you’re ok.

BBBoo

Can’t risk not hearing my alarm. :frowning:

And eye masks! And white noise! A sleeping person’s best friend. Well, Mel of course if it is nighttime bedtime, not just a day nap.

Speaking of naps, I’m at daughter’s house (just have one but she’s a glory to behold-tiny but mighty we’ve always called her. Judges and CEOs tremble at her approach). Waiting for appliance repair person. I hope they take awhile so I can curl up on the couch under the fluffy afghan and have a looonng nap. Yah, I know, I’ve only been up for two hours but it’s a sin to waste a nap opportunity. Think of it as me making a sacrifice for y’all who have to be at ‘work.

Hate those itchies, that is when I head for the Benadryl cream or hydrocortisone cream. Hard to spread relief between your own shoulder blades though. A soft spatula from the kitchen? Alls fair in love and itchies.

Boo

I’ve done that for two friends. Depressing ain’t it? The worst is when both halves of the pair ask you to check up on the other one. I usually pick the stupidest one to rat out. Sounds like the dumbest one has already established themself there.

I promise to NEVER put you in that situation. Mine underestimated my computer skills (and that takes something since I can barely turn the darn things on) and left his love poems for me to stumble across, printed them out for me to find. Yuck.

BBoo, the extra B is for Betrayed Boo. Fool me once…

@boo, you got an interesting life, girlfriend.

Kicking back (heh) with a cold beer and watching live football on TV as I type this. Live horse racing returned to the local track last weekend, and I had some success in my wagers. And I’ve been enjoying watching my Blue Jays play baseball on TV.

We’re far from being out of the woods with this virus, but as a sports fan, the return of live sports, even with various conditions and restrictions, tells me that we’re getting there.

Interestingly, they do have some fans at tonight’s football game–only about a quarter of the stadium’s capacity, and all carefully-spaced–but they’ve filled in some gaps with cardboard cutouts. Only they’re not photos of fans; they’re famous characters and people. When the TV showed a few of them, I was able to spot Willy Wonka, some comic-book superheroes, and even Queen Elizabeth!

Since I’m hoping you’re watching the Chiefs wallop Texas, please clue me in at half time about what you’re seeing. Go Chiefs!!:football:!!:football:

If you’re so misguided as to root for Texas, never mind.

Boo

Okay, it’s halftime. Chiefs 17; Texans 7. Nice drive by KC in the last 30 seconds–Mahomes still has it. KC might have scored a touchdown on one of the last plays, but didn’t, so KC chose to go for the field goal with four seconds left. And made it.

I’m not cheering for anybody in particular in this game. KC did win the Super Bowl over my 49ers in February, but that was last season. No hard feelings; this is a new season. Anyway, though I’m not cheering for anybody in particular in tonight’s game, I’m just hoping to see a good game. And that’s what’s been played so far.
