Non-Tempurpedic viscoelastic mattresses

My wife and I want to replace our mattress with something more comfortable. We went to a mattress store and saw a brand called Dormia. The mattress looked like a tempurpedic mattress but you could buy a queen sized set for about $900.00. The price seems almost too good to be true.

Does anyone have any experience with these mattresses? Has anyone tried another type like a tempurpedic or anything similar?

There have been several threads on these mattresses. I have a latex mattress, from flo-bed, and I love it. Flo-beds allows you to build your bed with differing firmness on each side–I like a soft bed and mr.stretch likes a firm bed. Also, flo-beds sells European style slat foundations that have additional adjustment options. We love our bed.

There is another company, Dormia, that sells latex mattresses for less than tempurpedic. I believe, from what I read when I was researching my bed, that the quality is less–the latex is not as dense.

Our local tempurpedic store has a money back guarantee and since it’s local there is no return shipping (I think they have a minimum restocking charge to make up for it).

In my opinion, once you have a foam/latex mattress you’ll never go back to innerspring.

Heck, we went super-cheap and bought the Temp-Soma brand mattress pad at Sam’s Club for about $125. Love it! We’ve also got the $25 pillows.

Prior to buying our bed, we bought a memory foam mattress pad. The two don’t compare. The foam pad improved our bed somewhat, but it just doesn’t offer the same total comfort as a foam mattress. We did move the mattress pad to the guest bed, which has really made that room more comfortable.

We do have the memory foam pillows, but mr.stretch didn’t like his, so I gave it away. I love mine and take it travelling with me.
